I don't think I have seen a post but what is everyone's take on Fields this coming up season? I personally think he is going to have a good year. Bears crapped on him and so did the Steelers. I think where he gets a fresh start with weapons around him and reunited with Wilson that he might have a career year.

Fields is what Fields is. He will win some games, and is an elite runner. But it takes more than that to win in the NFL.
The Bears moved on. The Steelers had no options once Russ was gone. And they still moved on. Bears begged someone to take him off their hands. With his cheap rookie contract as well. And no takers, until Pittsburgh felt bad and gave them next to nothing. 30 others teams saw what he was and said "Nope". Fields will land 60% of his passes. He should pass for 20 TDs and 10 INTs a season. If he can make it through a complete season that is. If his arm/awareness ever caught up to his feet, he would be a MVP like Lamar. But going in to year 5. There is no evidence that will happen. Caleb Williams, behind the same trash line. With the same trash HC. And the same trash plays being called. Managed to throw for 3600 yards, 20TDs and 6 INTs in 17 games as a rookies. With 3 different OC's and 2 different HC's. And he still had 210 yards per game and a rating of 88 Justin Fields, in 50 games, has 7700 yards. 45 TDs and 31 INTs. With 150 yards per game and a rating of 83 |

Fields sucks... far too many turnovers. Can't pass well. Can't protect the football (leads league in fumbles or close to it every year). He's a Jalen hurts... with way more fumbles and significantly less passing accuracy. Tomlin is one of the best coaches in the league, and he quickly benched Justin for past-his-prime Russ the minute Wilson was healthy. ...I think the interesting thing from NYJ will be to see if Garrett Wilson forces a trade out after this season is surely another Jets disaster (they took his 5th year option, so he's not FA until 2027). He's a very good player, and I doubt he wants any more of the horrid QB play when Zach Wilson then ARodg and now his college QB crashes and burns. I hope he gets out of the chaos and plays with a legit quarterback for awhile. Quote:
But don't forget the kicker: 151 sacks and 20 fumbles. In 50 games. That's just not how you keep drives and scores going. It kills drives... often worse. Fields is never going to start again in NFL after this year. It won't be pretty in 2025. He's trash... and his cards can be in the dollar bin with Desean Watson and Carson Wentz and JaMarcus Russel and Trubisky and Rosen and Vince Young rookies. This should be, authentically, his first true run at being the starting QB. If the Jets make the playoffs, that will be a successful year
Bears and Steelers did him dirty IMO

He is going to have the chance to do well. He should have a good O line, not so great receivers so we will see. I am a Jet fan and am holding my breath. I hope he comes around but at least he is not hot garbage like quite a few Jet qb over the years.

My opinion of Fields is the same I have of quarterbacks like Daniel Jones and about six other starting quarterbacks of similar pedigree and hype.
That is to say all Sizzle no steak |

I remember it was a 50/50 thing on this board that the Bears should keep Fields and use the number one pick elsewhere instead of drafting Williams. Who knows if Caleb is going to be good, but it was 100% the right call to ditch Fields and reset the QB rookie clock with Williams.

It's not his fault the Jets are inept. He still somehow managed three 1000yd seasons and ROY with their putzing. He will be gone too greener pastures asap. If you pair him with Mahomes, Burrow, etc... 2000yd and 15td guy. Even a more mid team and passer like Stafford or Herbie or Baker, you are likely talking a 1800/12 wide receiver, no sweat. NYJ are pathetic, though. |

IE, Keep Fields who was OK and maybe improving. Then trade the #1 for at least two 1st round picks or more and an impact player. And use all that to build around Fields. Much like the haul the Bears got the year prior. It was never really a debate about who should play QB Caleb or Fields. But more so what they could have gotten with a trade of the #1. |

if we include his running stats he actually has 44 total fumbles in the 50 games (44 starts). Still could have a pretty decent season but it seems like bad luck and bad mechanics follow him |

2021. HC Nagy was COY in 2018. Bears were a playoff team the season before. They just needed a better QB than Trubisky. David Montgomery, Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney, Cole Kmet. Bears are stacked, Fields will be a star!
2022. Fire Nagy, start the rebuild. Bears did Fields dirty! 2023. Draft Wright to protect Fields with a top 10 pick. Trade for DJ Moore. Kmet looks legit. Fields will be a star! 2024. Traded to Pittsburgh. Pat Freiermuth, Najee Harris, George Pickens and some proper coaching. Fields will be a star! 2025. Bears & Steelers did Fields dirty. With the Jets, Fields will be star! We are here for the Fields truthers |

make it. The bad news is it's the Jets and he probably has the worst offensive personnel around him in his professional career, and another defensive minded HC running the show.

I know this sounds crazy, but Fields is in the best situation he has been in yet. I loved Aaron Glen as a player and think he was a good pick as coach. If they they can draft better (i don't know how much worse they can get in later rounds) they have a good core and can make some waves. They may surprise people and win 9 games or so and be tough. I am also a big Jermaine Johnson fan and hope he can get back to his old self because he was ready to breakout last year.
