Loved him in both Reservoir Dogs and Sin City.

I always confused him and Tom Sizemore. Both were great and both are now gone too early.
Off topic a bit, but I always wondered about the backstory of Madsen's brief appearance in Die Another Day. It's so out of left field. Almost like he won a bet or something, or if the writers intended for him and Jinx (Halle Berry) to have a continuing story-arc in a sequel but gave up on that after the movie stunk up the joint. Anyways R.I.P. to one half of the Infamous Vega Bros.

Ironically I just watched Pulp Fiction last night. Madsen had to turn down the Travolta part as he was doing Wyatt Earp.
Not mentioned yet but I thought he did a fantastic job in the Hateful Eight as Joe Gage/Grouch Douglas. Him and Kurt Russell had a couple of scenes together that were very suspenseful. |

Oops on that one. That wasn't even the best Wyatt Earp movie that year.
Even so, Madsen did well enough with Tarantino on the other stuff. His sister, actress Virginia Madsen, provided a poetic tribute to her older brother. "My brother Michael has left the stage. He was thunder and velvet. Mischief wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw. A father, a son, a brother — etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark. We’re not mourning a public figure. We’re not mourning a myth — but flesh and blood and ferocious heart. Who stormed through life loud, brilliant, and half on fire. Who leaves us echoes — gruff, brilliant, unrepeatable — half legend, half lullaby. I’ll miss our inside jokes, the sudden laughter, the sound of him. I’ll miss the boy he was before the legend; I miss my big brother. Thank you to everyone reaching out with love and memory. In time, we’ll share how we plan to celebrate his life — but for now, we stay close, and let the silence say what words can’t.” Michael was working on a new book, “Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems” which is currently being prepared for publication. So long, Mr. Blonde... ![]()
