Default Autographed photos/pictures

I recently acquired a collection of autographs in sleeves alongside a recent card collection purchase. They’re from various people like Clint Eastwood, Natalie Portman, Gillian Anderson and quite a few more. I don’t know anything about these as they’re outside of my knowledge. But my question is, is it worth getting them slabbed and authenticated before selling? Or is this not really a thing?

They all appear to be a lifelong collection as there are letters from the stars representatives ‘thanking them for their letter’ and things, as well a ones purchased with worthless certificates of authentic from now defunct companies.

Any advice appreciated!

Definitely worth getting authenticated, as forgeries and fake signatures are very prevalent these days for bigger actors/actresses

Definitely worth getting slabbed/authenticated.

This is one of the rare times where PSA actually would be the right call. As a suggestion, if you had 25 different autographed photos, I would suggest submitting maybe 5 at the most, so that if all five come back as fakes, you can kind of assume the rest of the batch is as well and save a lot of money and disappointment. The cost of the auto authentication is based on the person, so I would stagger a selection of the five from lower end to one high end auto (Clint Eastwood is $50 for example, Gillian Anderson is only $25, etc).

And if they all come back legit, then send the rest of the batch, instead of sending them all at once. Just my take.

Here's the submission form link:

Or, the buyers for those sorts of items may not be into slabs and would prefer to mount/display photos their own way, in which case you could still do as suggested and authenticate in batches, but consider JSA as an alternative. My limited observation is that the return is similar for non-sports subjects.

PSA for this. There is a group sub here once a year. Unfortunately for you, you missed the deadline for that for this year.

You do not need to slab them. You can have PSA issue certs instead. This is a good option for 8x10s as the slabbing of them can get pricey as the jumbo holder is $30 on top of authentication fee.

I've never submitted to JSA or Beckett for AUTOs, but those would be the other two options.

Before submitting, if you are unfamiliar with autographs, I would do a few things.
1) Check to make sure the signature is live ink and not facsimile or autopen. You can search vids how to do this.
2) Once you know it's live ink, compare it to known authenticated PSA autos before submitting. For famous people, look up PSA Autofacts on the signer and there should be multiple examples.

Many celeb autos are fake. If they were obtained by mail, as these seem to be, it's not uncommon for the autos to be secretarial and illegitimate.

Thanks everyone, it's really helpful info. A definite minefield lol. After researching I now feel a little more confused as people like Clint Eastwood and Bruce Willis seem to have gone through major changes in their auto by PSA standards! But, I'm pretty sure the majority are good, not sure on John Travolta though.

It may be I have to submit them all and see what happens!

Thanks again

Twice a year now, likely. Hold them until raiderguy puts on his next submission.

What's the benefit of a group sub? Is there a thread for this? Thanks
