This is the most disturbing show I ever watched. Currently, I am on episode 6 of, I think, 9 episodes.

The hardware store where he got his very last victim was still there in the 90's and when punk bands came to town we would bring them up to Plainfield. Most wanted to buy antifreeze for their tour vans, the thing he bought that got him caught.

For a scholarly view of everything that really happened with Gein, the 1989 book "Deviant: The Shocking True Story of the Original Psycho" by Harold Schechter seems to be the tome of choice.
This series, like the previous "Monster" entries on Dahmer and the Menendez Brothers, takes a lot of dramatic license in relating the story as that is only part of the wider purpose, which is a rumination of the affect on American culture that resulted from these notorious killings. We have one episode left, but yes, this is easily one of the more disturbing true(ish) crime miniseries ever made. Viewer beware.

The actual video of Speck smoking crack in prison and showing off his, uh, additions is out there and is likewise very, very creepy.
This is an 8 episode series, mercifully, and not 9 episodes. At the end of the final episode, it's announced that the next edition of the "Monster" series will focus on Lizzie Borden, she of the famous rhyme.

Yes, that's right.
There's a scene in the next one where an extra creamy macaroni & cheese is prepared that is said to be among the most bloodcurdling in the entire series to date.

I used to have a book owned by Lizzie Borden. She wrote her name in it and a few underlined passages, it came from a close friend of hers Helen Leighton.

Dude, just finished the series yesterday and that scene is one of the most disturbing things I've ever watched. The last 2 episodes were by far the best, I really wish they would have brought in the original 2 guys from Mind Hunter for those scenes. That little detail would have made it so much better. Loved the Mind Hunter series.
