Default Are you a hard worker?

No definition given because it will allow for self reflection.

I think some people think activity alone is hard work. Sometimes it’s just the opposite of inactivity.

Like, listing items on eBay is “working hard”. That’s not work at all, just something to do.

Not if it’s a means of income.

So the result of taking in income makes the activity hard work?

I consider myself a hard-worker, but I WFH, so I don't "come home" physically and mentally drained.

Are you “at work” now?

It’s not just “doing something.”

You could say that about anything.

What if you list 10 things in one day and none of them sell. Was it no longer working?

If eBay is a source of income you better be listing more than ten items a day.

A source or the only source?

What if those 10 things are typically valued at $500 each?

Since income has been brought up, does that make volunteers inherently lazy by definition?

Growing up as a DIY punk, then having my parents and the two old Italian men I worked for at my first job drilled my work ethic into me.
I've missed one day in 23 years at my current job. Less than one week total sick days in my 35+ years in the workforce.
Hell, the day I woke up to find my car had been stolen from my driveway overnight didn't stop me from missing work.

We’ve got income and showing up/dependability as metrics for hard work.

Either or.

Why would someone list things that don’t sell, that’s silly.

Enjoy the open-endedness and lack of definition in the question

However, the answers don't exactly match up with that open-endedness

Based on the answers:
Yes, I come home physically and mentally drained - Not me; mentally drained many days, absolutely yes; physically drained - I can't think of a time this would be true of my current employment

No, I could do more when I really look at my daily activities - Probably close to accurate. As a W2'd employee, I believe in completing the tasks assigned to me. I am not an owner or bonus eligible employee (to be fair, the "owner" is the county...); that said, I would be willing to perform additional duties and tasks that are not assigned but could be improved assuming I would be fairly compensated. I have zero assurance or trust that would occur. I do not work for free, and thusly spend that mental energy and effort on other personal pursuits.

Sometimes, when it’s a busy time of year - Not really applicable as a healthcare employee. I mean, I suppose winter is busier than other times of year, but it's not really something that is extraordinarily quantifiable/noticeable.

I don’t work - N/A - I'm gainfully W2 employed

Congrats? But the employer will ditch you the first moment they find you inconvenient to their bottom line.

Most people work harder for someone else than they do on their self

If you're coming home from work at a company you don't own drained, you're doing it wrong
