Fun product, but yet another year of planetary pursuits?

Is this stuff going to explode like last year? Those boxes are like $900.

I hope box prices can stay closer to $350 this year.

I'm once again kinda unimpressed with the base design, but this has become one of my favorite products just for the inserts.

Have Fun! Can't see dropping $200 let alone $300+ a box without a guaranteed auto. Nice cards though! I know this is a favorite among some collectors.

Bingo...no product without a guaranteed auto or parallel #/25 or less should be over $100 a box.....

Has this releases popularity exceeded that of fan favorite Ginter?

The Cosmic stuff is why they discontinued High Tek huh?

Been waiting all year for this release. Pre-order soon - praying I can get in on it before it sells out. If I’m remembering right it was only EQL last year - lost out, big surprise.

It was MC club last year and they let you buy cases.

So then we can safely say you won’t be whining when the checklist for this isn’t out 2 months in advance?

But, they can sell more of it to breakers and jack the prices up even higher if they don't include this in Montgomery Club...why waste a good profit opportunity? Out of all seriousness, is this going to get delayed by a month too? With update coming out a month later...is it that they bit off more they can chew with all of these weird sets like labubu? Or are they having print quality issues? Or Both? I mean, I was rather disappointed in the number of issues my sapphire cards had. I have a red /5 Witt that has fingernail prints and lots of scratches. How that happens when there's not even an auto on it is beyond me.

I'm going to guess the Planetary Pursuits are somewhat popular. I thought they were the best looking insert of 2024 (I will admit that I've never actually seen a Gold Storm in hand), and i occasionally see posts in r/baseballcards of people trying to complete a player run. I would like to see pack odds for them this year.

Every additional year they do these and keep them not serial-numbered is going to quell demand due to the declining novelty of the concept.

I mean, even for player collectors, how many years of mars cards that look really similar to each other do you really need?

By player run i meant all ten cards for the player, Sun through Pluto. And they could do a player for three years tops (i know its not happening for Judge, Ohtani etc), then swap them out for another player. Vlad is pictured for this year, I believe its his first year to get a card.

Yes, variety in the player checklist would be a good thing. I had judge in mind when typing, whom I believe has and will be as part of this insert line annually.

I could go either way on the serial numbering. I hit an Elly Neptune last year and sold it thinking it seemed like the Planetary Pursuits were coming out of boxes more frequently than the prior year. I probably sold it too low, which is frustrating, but I'm also someone who enjoys trying to find value in non-numbered stuff.

Correct.

I've bought a complete base set each year, but that's it.

The planetary pursuits have definitely become more common as the years have passed and I don’t like not knowing by how much, so I’m obviously an advocate for serial numbering.

If you knew the Elly was numbered to 8, for example, would you have been so quick to sell? That’s an awesome hit.

I probably still would've sold it just knowing how it goes with the hot rookies, but I probably could've priced it better. I hit an Aaron Judge orange Starfractor from the same box and kept that one, when I should have sold the Judge and held Elly til I had a better idea how rare the Neptunes are. Win some, lose some. I've made the occasional good buy thinking a non-numbered card was undervalued.

In other sports they’ve seemed to hold up pretty well - color blasts, downtowns, etc.

Regardless, there is something refreshing about cosmic and I think the limited product print run maintains its popularity. A box break just feels like a better value and is more entertaining than regular topps chrome.
