I found this interesting, and some of his other posts on LinkedIn are worth a read too.

Most ironic post ever coming from the President of Upper Deck. Sure they may not be as bad as the other companies but who does he think is buying The Cup boxes? This reminds me of celebs who want to promote less pollution but take their private jet everywhere

You should read his takes on breaking and how that impacts the hobby, again from the company selling Ultimate, Premier, Engrained & The Cup.

I agree with him though, starting to feel a bit like 2020 all over again in several player markets.

When I was 16, I opened up my own trading card shop. My parents said it was the best investment in my education they had ever made (no offense to Indiana and Michigan State). This gives some insight, a Rich kid whose parents literally bought him a card shop at 16 lol explains alot. Second someone in the comments of that post you reposted said this: The market needs an affordable yet interesting and innovative sports card series for kids to get in to. Packs for $1.99, Boxes for $39.99, Stickers and posters etc Cool true, his response: Fleer Brilliants Superman on the entertainment side. Tim Hortons and MVP hockey on the sports side. Now I liked Superman and it was affordable box wise but packs weren’t $1.99 if bought singularly. Tim Hortons and MVP are your defense for affordable sports/hockey? Lmfao Tim’s aren’t even sold in the US, neither “boxes” of Tim’s or MVP are $39.99 and it’s just sad using those three examples as if you are not part of the problem lol almost as sad as since it’s LinkedIn everyone supporting and applauding his comments lol Third I read the first post I saw on breaks and I’ll keep it short but it’s laughable. I didn’t even know who this guy was now he annoys me with his “questions” that he has single handedly contributed to lol if UD was so worried about the long term growth and reputation they wouldn’t of eased restrictions on their own dealers. They used to care and crack down on stores selling cases knowing they would be broke and had anti skunk rules for breaks where you had to get something. They could care less about either now. No wonder he thinks he’s right when he lives in that echo chamber of praise from people who know it’s good to be friends with UD President lol Call me when UD stops raising prices on product year by year regardless of the rookie class and then I’ll say he cares for the hobby and this isn’t just bs PR lol |

I dunno some can separate the message from the messenger but when all the things normal consumers have said is coming from one of the top three people of companies in cards (along with Panini/Topps-Fanatics) it just comes off as corny or appeasing. Like you literally have the ability to change some of the things you are here “pondering” about |

Upper Deck is less of a leverage fest as Fanatics and Panini, but is by no means speculation free for sure. |

UD hockey is the most reasonably priced of all sports. I have no problem with them. It’s the others that blow.

I do appreciate that UD seems to try to keep the wax pricing on some lower end products reasonable.
I also think as a less popular product, especially here in the US, UD Hockey doesn't get tainted as much because there is less incentive/market to do so. Still, hockey is the last remaining product I open, so I appreciate UD for making it even somewhat viable to do for enjoyment. |

it's kind of rich saying that when you just took UD flagship 2 years ago, going from 24 packs at $79.99 MSRP to $130 for 12 packs with adding 1/1s and less packs to specifically format more towards breakers.
I will say that overall though UD has done a much better job than Topps/Panini at keeping prices reasonable and still having Game Used items.

UD has also made some questionable choices with how they resurrected Fleer Ultra and E-X 2000. If we're keeping score. Not saints, just not the worse sinners either.

UD is still making some good value products. OPC hobby is very fun. But, I feel that we need another entry level product, like UD Victory and Topps Totally were back in the days. Something with a later release date to include all the rookies.

Odd you don’t see a bunch of posts here or in break section ripping Premier, Ultimate, heck Skybox EX last year. I get licking boots if that’s your thing but in reality obviously others think certain products are too expensive as well. Mark my words people will act like UD is all-holy then when that renewed Fleer set comes out next year this board will say “too expensive, not worth it” lmao. I probably buy more UD than most here saying there still so affordable, I just don’t absolve presidents because they make some cool LinkedIn posts yall fell for. Please post your recent Ud purchases beyond S1/2 if responding not just claim everything is worth the price while not opening your wallet.
