I love Olympic products and have opened a ton over the years.
Summer sets are always better than Winter sets.
Who is new and exciting in this that wouldn't have been in a previous set?

You know, this is the kind of product that you really want to see a checklist for before purchasing. I’ve opened at least 1 case of every Olympics releases for the past 10 years but I don’t think I want to take the risk without seeing who’s in this one.

I loved 2024 TC Olympics (Summer). Ripped a bunch of hobby and retail configurations (still even sitting on a hobby case, not for value, but because I love the product).

But you can basically still get those hobby boxes for the same price (after taxes). Not going to jump the gun on this product, might even wait until they (or big 3) discount the price.

Yep, and without any images of any men's hockey players in USA uniforms -- would seem to indicate the USA Men's team is excluded from this release whether for licensing or other reasons.

I need to know if the percentage of Paralympians and Hopefuls that have no hope of making the team is smaller than it was for 2024 Summer Games.
I have enough Chrome Paralympic hopefuls still sitting on my desk to build a wheelchair ramp!

Who would even have to be on the auto checklist to make this a buy? Current NHL players? Nancy Kerrigan or Michelle Kwan? Chloe Kim is on the checklist but not sure she has an auto.

Summer was decent with Phelps, Ledecky, and Schauffele.

2024 summer product had the champions on-card auto insert set (aesthetic and on-card, great attributes), hopefully they include some on-card auto insert set (same one would be fine) with this set.

I still don’t think the product is a buy if just 4 of the people I listed and you listed were on the auto checklist which was the point I was trying to make.

I guess it depends on what you plan to do with the product.

If they include such athletes, it could be a fun rip at MSRP for many (including myself).

But I certainly wouldn't buy the product to hold/flip in the future. Shoot, a lot of people ripped 2024 TC Olympics and it's still readily available at close to MSRP prices (and I'd like to assume they'd create a similar amount of 2026 TC Winter Olympics product too).

Similar to Summer, if there's cards you want just wait 3 months after release. Alot of them dropped off the face of the earth once the Olympics were over.

They are taking the mentality that preorders don’t need checklists. Shops had to do that before this direct to consumer play but it is a bit weird for end consumers to have to have that mentality too.

men’s basketball was unlicensed in chrome. but topps had licensed team usa now cards who knows

Was it unlicensed? Isn't it possible that there just weren't any images to use (given that the product came out before the actual Olympics)? Also, hard to photoshop a Team USA uniform onto some random NBA/practice session image if you don't know what the Team USA basketball uniform will actually look like (assuming it changes from time to time).

Team USA may be in for a rough future if Shaun White and Lindsey Vonn are still main product draws lol

Also UD has exclusive rights to Team Canada and USA men’s hockey so I doubt they are in this as UD releases their own (atleast Canada) sets. I’d imagine it’s similar for women although there aren’t heavy draws there anyway, 2018 also had zero (ice, shoutout sledge!) hockey players in base or auto so there’s that.

The draws for this will be (for Topps not saying there amazing hits)
-Isabeau Levito (pretty obvious considering she’s promo photo auto)
-Lindsey Vonn (she actually just looked like her old self, if she can do it at the Olympics her popularity should shoot up as it’ll be a big story, she is in a bunch of previous sets though so not scarce)
-Mikaela Shiffrin (has all the records now also could form dream team with Vonn at Olympics)
-Chloe Kim
