Here is some free advice:

Eat more good.
Eat less bad.

That's what I do.

So says the person who has daily Polar Pops.

I think the law of unintended consequences is going to come into play here. I am not going to speculate as to the form it/they will take, but there will be some unforeseen negatives from the drug(s).

I do think there's going to be unintended consequences down the road.

The fact that current GLP-1 weight loss drugs lead to muscle loss will be their undoing. The Swedish have developed a new GLP-1 style pill that should destroy the current GLP-1 market.

Quote:
The new oral medication was found to successfully control blood glucose, boost fat burning and retain muscle mass in animals, while getting high marks for tolerability and safety in humans.

It was also found to have fewer side effects than GLP-1s like semaglutides and tirzepatides, which are known to cause appetite loss, gastrointestinal distress and muscle wasting, the researchers noted.

I took Weghovy for the last two months but stopped taking it a few weeks ago. I lost 40 pounds initially but then put some of it back on. From week one I had stomach issues where I either had diarrhea or constipation all the time. Didn't go one week where I didnt have these issues. Also made me nauseous quite a bit. I gave it 6 weeks to work through the side effects and then decided the con's outweighed (no pun intended ) the pro's.

Sorry if TMI but figured this would be good info for anyone taking or intending to take them.

For some people with significant genetic issues related to weight, I can see there being justification for using such a drug. Unfortunately, I don't think that's quite how it's being used by the masses. Too many people are trying to find a quick fix instead of putting in the work needed to stay fit. I feel like many drugs, they present more issues than they resolve.

It’s a good thing for lazy people without actual medical issues. 1 star

As someone who has lost a ton of weight without a GLP1 drug the past year, I tend to agree with all of this. Like Saraste, I think there are unintended consequences that I wouldn't speculate (because it's all conjecture and opinion without having anything factual to back it up) that feel inevitable to come into play.

My worry and why I declined the use of these kind of drugs was I didn't think the drug solves the problem, which is a persons relationship with food and eating habits. If it just supresses hunger, what is it fixing the day you finally get off the drug?

Exactly. This right here is what a certain family member of mine is now having to contend with after having taken Menjaro for diabetes-related weight loss. The drug worked for a while, they lost a ton of weight, but after the medication caused severe damage to their gall bladder and pancreas, they can no longer take the drug. You can guess what happened next. Weight started coming back because the hunger was no longer suppressed. Frankly, it's a lazy way of losing weight. At the expense of sounding like I'm tooting my own horn, I work hard to maintain weight through exercise and managing my eating habits which took years to re-build after having spent most of my 20s and 30s creating bad habits. It takes work and it was well, well worth it. I'm in the best shape of my life in my 40s and I attribute that to discipline and determination. My life is far better for it because these strategies I built are new life habits that will serve me well into my later years as I keep them up.

it will be interesting to see GLP1 against Prader willi syndrome.

I lost like 10 lbs, just cutting out processed foods, trans/saturated fats, only 1 dessert per day, more fruits, trying to avoid added sugars.

I use this as a reference:

I have confidence the pill actually works while people are on it. I have no confidence in the pill to change what actually causes most people to be obese once they are off of it.
