Do you agree with Andruw Jones and Beltran making the HOF?

Who cares it hasn't been a small hall in ages and they want to have a big fancy induction ceremony. For me, Beltran will always be remembered standing there with the bat on his shoulder vs wainwright. Ironically the one time everyone else knew what pitch was coming except him.

Have been advocating Andruw Jones since he became eligible. Many consider him one of the greatest outfielders of all-time as do I. His offensive numbers don't scream HOF, but it was his defense that ultimately got him in. The only thing that really held him back was his domestic violence charges & the Hall's character clause.

Beltran definitely not. Was a compiler along with being part of the Astros scandal. Andrew Jones meh

As a lifelong Braves fan, I’m happy to see Jones make it in.
Also, as a lifelong Braves fan, I don’t like that Jones is in while Dale Murphy is not.

A compiler in the sense that he had lots of productive seasons because he was really good for a long time. The cheating aspect makes sense. But as a player, he fits the bill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The H.O.V.G. yes, H.O.F. hell no.
But then again none of this makes any sense since Curt Schilling isn't in it. Both guys played forever and compiled stats yet neither could muster 3000 hits or 500 home runs? |

Last part, and in "defense" of Jones - he was well on his way at age 30. WELL on his way. Then got fat and lazy and really only played the equivalent of 2-3 full seasons. So while he seemed to play forever, his career wasn't as long as you think. If his prime lasted through age 33 and he aged gracefully to 38-39, he likely hits 600 HRs with a WAR in the 80's, i.e. a slam dunk case. I'm NOT a fan of him in the Hall, but through his 20s his case was pretty strong. But then he got lazy. And fat. And beat his wife. So eff him.

Very happy for Audruw. Beltran I must confess I am shocked…I mean, I guess he had decent career stats but the two things people remember about him is striking out with the bat on his shoulder to end the Mets playoff run and being the architect of the Astros cheating scandal. And that gets you in the Hall?!?!

No on both for me. They seem like Hall of Very Good candidates and that's disregarding the cheating/abusing.

Jones is borderline. He was a negative after age 30. His hitting status compare unfavorably to one and done Jim Edmonds.

A lot of HOF is not just numbers for me. It is more, "Watching him play did I feel he was a HOF player?"
I am on the fence with Jones but leaning yes. I hate that he didn't seem to care that much about baseball after being paid. Beltran. I just don't think of him as a HOF player despite his numbers.

Jones Yes
Beltran Absolutely not. Changing of the guard in the Hall voting base wants a big Hall of Fame. Future votes are going to be very different

Based on fWAR, they deserve to be in. 74th (Beltran) and 77th (Jones) ranked players of all time. While Jones accumulated 96% of his fWAR by the time he turned 31, Beltran had only accumulated 65% by then.
