I was not sure which eBay thread to throw this in, so I made my own new one.
I had a buyer open an Item not Received complaint last week for a $6 item that was shipped ESU. I asked the guy to give it time as the card was showing movement. He opened basically as soon as the 14 day window started. The card showed tracking, but had not gotten to him yet. I informed him as such, but he kept pestering about wanting a refund. The case would be escalated to eBay yesterday, so even though the card was still moving, I refunded him. The guy left a negative as he was not happy that I told him it would show up and would not just automatically give him a refund. Whatever. Fast forward like 12 hours. Card shows up. The negative is gone. I did not file for any removal or correction on his part. It is just gone. Is this something that eBay does automatically?

Found this on google, who knows what is true though.
Automatic Removal Scenarios: Violating Content: Feedback containing profanity, threats, personal information, or comments about other transactions. Case Resolved for Seller: If a buyer opens a "Money Back Guarantee" case and it is decided in the seller's favor. Shipping Issues: If a seller meets shipping metrics (handling time, tracking) but a delay occurs due to carrier issues. Unpaid Items: If a buyer has a pending or confirmed "Unpaid Item" case. Policy Constraints: If a user is deemed to be leaving excessive negative feedback or is suspended. |

I had a similar situation recently with a negative that disappeared. An ESE order got lost for a while in the USPS void. Unfortunately, the buyer was new to Ebay (just a few positive feedback) and didn't know how things work. He first messaged me angry that the card had not shipped, even though tracking showed that it was scanned the day after he paid. He was also angry that there had been "no communication" from me to let him know why there was a delay. He filed an INR, and after a few days, I refunded him. The next morning he left a negative accusing me of not shipping on time, not communicating with him, and not giving him a full refund (which I did). I wanted to respond immediately but thought better of it until I had some time away. The next day, I looked at my feedback and saw the negative was gone. Had I not seen it the day before, I would never have known it was there!

On a related note, I had a very low feedback buyer open an INR on a Ground Advantage shipment destined for Chicago that fell off the radar in Indianapolis. I did inform him that he should have contacted me first to give me the most options since a seller is supposed to take care of those in four days. I put in a missing mail search request thinking it wouldn't work, and the next day tracking shows it's in Atlanta. Not wanting this dude to get the card and the money, I did not refund him prior to the deadline. The card was delivered the following day and the INR automatically closed.
