I received this email last week from ebay:
"Upon review of your recent selling performance and collective activity, we have made the decision to place a selling limit on your account. Some factors we considered when adjusting your selling limits include, but may not be limited to: - Concerns about rapid growth or a sudden increase in listing volume. The selling limits have been adjusted so that we may assist you into becoming a more successful seller. Please keep in mind that our goal is to help you ensure that your selling activity is operating at an optimal level. An ideal balance would allow you to sell at a comfortable monthly volume while still being able to successfully provide a good customer experience for your buyers. Moving forward we ask that you focus on the following areas for improvement: - Steady Growth. In order to help sellers become more successful, we sometimes have to place selling limits which can be adjusted incrementally. This allows sellers to grow at a rate in which we believe they can handle and can help avoid problems that arise when a seller is overwhelmed with the recently sold volume of items. Fortunately, we do have selling limits which can be adjusted incrementally and allow fast growing sellers to increase their volume incrementally. - Sustained Performance. We ask that you sustain a good performance for 90 consecutive days while operating at or near the current selling limit. We would like to see a sustained pattern of performance with complaint rates below three percent. We hope that you will use these current selling limits to your advantage and spend the current time focusing on succeeding with your recent sales. We value you as a seller and hope to work with you in order to establish a strong selling account and successful business relationship. It is in our best interest to help our sellers succeed so that we can have a positive trading environment and successful business relationship. These limits will allow you to have 200 items between your active and sold listings. The sum of these listings must not exceed $5,000 in value. If you exceed either threshold, you will need to wait until the following calendar month before the system will allow additional listings. We welcome you to appeal this selling limit in the future and we will conduct a review to see if adjustments would be appropriate. We ask that you do not use or create any other eBay accounts at this time. If we determine that circumvention has taken place, it is possible that all accounts could be suspended indefinitely. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and thank you for using eBay." After a couple of calls to ebay, this is what I got out of it: Even though I am a powerseller with over 6000 feedback and no negatives, because I had increased my number of listings recently (due to their "free listing" days) I am being told to slow down because "I won't be able to handle it". Also, because this is now a new policy being applied and everyone will now have selling limits, therefore, I am not being singled out. So, I am wondering if anyone else got similar emails? |

This has been going on for a while now, so its not new for sure. My limits are 120 items and $12,000. New accounts people say they are allowed only 10 items!

Wow so they give sellers free listings then penalize them for listing too much all of a sudden. Everytime I think I've heard eBay at their lamest they go and top themselves.

I have not gotten anything like this. WTF do they do free listing days with up to 50,000 free listings on those days if they are then going to limit people when they take advantage of it. ugh. so stupid.
