Me (Twins fan) and my friend (Orioles fan) are heading to Baltimore to catch the opening weekend series between the two. We're flying all the way from Vancouver for it. We were just wondering if there's anything recommended we check out. The only thing I know we plan on doing is the tour of the Ravens stadium.

Go to the park, watch the game, then straight to your hotel room and lock the door.

Baltimore is great, minus a few areas like all cities have. There's a ton of stuff to do in the Inner Harbor. You can go to the Babe Ruth museum, Edgar Allan Poe's house, etc.
If you like to go out drinking, the Power Plant is pretty fun, as well as any of the smaller bars in Federal Hill and Fell's Point. Only bothersome part of the city you may encounter are the homeless. You'll probably get asked for change on every block. |

Ask a taxi driver to take you to federal hill or canton square. Great bar scenes there and safe. Baltimore is very safe as long as you aren't going to places trying to score heroin.

There is a ton of stuff to do at Inner Harbor. My wife and I went to the nationals 2 years ago then spent a week doing stuff in the area.

The crime really is bad, and if you park in one of the lots near the stadium be sure to not have anything of value in your car.

I went last summer and wound up going to Annapolis, driving around the city a bit, going to places to get seafood, etc.
Its a beautiful park too Blue Moon Cafe for breakfast is where its at. You will have to wait in the scorching sun but its worth it |

Wow, I'm jealous, as a die hard Ravens fan I would love to see the stadium.
Good luck, don't get mugged! You could also go to the aquarium there.

Grew up going to games at Memorial, that was a place you don't want to stray from. The Inner Harbor has been cleaned up and is a great place to wander and around and stop in for periodic beers/ and or get some great seafood. Have season tickets and been to well over 100-150 games at Camden and never had a bit of trouble.
There are also some cool hangouts right by the stadium that are a lot of fun and the O's fans are cool. Pickles and then Sliders if it's too crowded... I will be there Friday for opening day, O's are my team but I'm super stoked that they are playing the Twins. Great stadium. If you like to completely gorge grab some Boog's BBQ on your way in the stadium in the walkway between the right field stands and the warehouse. Favorite player growing up Eddie Murray, favorite player growing up stage 2, Eddie Rosario. Side note - I think that some people might be basing their thougts on The Wire not actually going to a game........

Many of the visiting teams stay at the Renaissance overlooking the harbor. Went there 5 years ago and saw all of the Red Sox in the lobby awaiting the shuttles to the game and saw many of them in the adjoining mall during the day. Walked by Manny Ramirez and Wily Mo Pena... Willy Mo is one of the largest individuals I have ever met.

Wow thanks for the responses guys! I know it's not the greatest place in the world but we don't plan on doing anything that dumb. Didn't know about the Ruth museum, definitely plan on checking that out. Any cool card/memorabilia shops near Camden Yards?

Keep telling yourself that. Should I just say...."believe." I have been to Baltimore numerous times and it is hands down one of the worst places I have ever been. The crime rate is out of control and everywhere you go there is a camera on you because of that. It feels like a city under marshal law or a police state. The stadiums and the surrounding area are nice to visit during the day but there is no reason to go off campus. Once the sun goes down, stay inside. Am I wrong?

Baltimore was fine, going back for the national this year again, i think.
Inner harbor is nice and several other hidden gems Throughout the city. Just don't walk down any dark alleys and you will be fine. Google or frommers for some off the beat places.
