I am curious as why people like Chrome so much. I am contemplating getting a box but with one auto I am not sure.

I just bought a box of 2011 topps chrome football rack packs.

I like the chrome because they have lots of opportunities to get numbered variations of the most solid rookie class that I have seen in a long time. Five rookies made the pro bowl and you don't see that very often. Not only that topps chrome are very good looking cards nice and shiny with a little glimmer to them, lots of good color variation.
As far as only getting one autograph, you get a chance to get a numbered variation as well. It is sort of unlikely but you could wind up getting a major hit out of it. I can tell you that I am actually chasing Cam Newton. I am trying to get as many as I can with the hopes of maybe hitting that elusive numbered autograph. If I saved my money for a couple of months I might wind up being able to get one, but you get a lot of variety in a box of rack packs. Buying one card for a lot of money leaves something to be desired, so I like getting a lot of variety for my money. If you are worried about how many hits you get, use your money to buy singles.

Chrome is one of the best products since it came out in 1996. At that time it was retail only. I ended up buy 8 boxes from all the walmarts and targets in the area. I even think they had them at sams club. I wish I would of never opened them They are going for 800$ a box now.

I like Chrome because it has really great photography, a simple and clean design, and beautiful refractor parallels that can be almost as good as the auto hit. I also think because Chrome has such a huge following (and will probably continue to have so), the cards will maintain value down the road.

But, on the flip side, I think Chrome was amazing at it's original price point of $65 - $70 a box. I don't recommend buying it at $130+ where it currently sits, unless you really like Ronald Johnson and Alex Green.

As a Packer fan I like Alex Green and think he could be decent especially on 3rd down. However I dont buy boxes with the hopes of pulling him.

ditto.......It was a great product at $70, if you pulled a scrub, you didn't feel like you took a kick to your nuts, but at $125+++ it's way more high risk.
