I heard rumors they were going to trade Zach Lee and Garrett Gould to the Astros for Carlos Lee and Jed Lowrie. Updates to the rumor state that Zach Lee and Jed Lowrie are not involved. I think I'll be selling my Garrett Gould autos just in case...

I think the bench support Carlos Lee offers is the least of your worries.

Oh boy...

2 runs in 6 games, 5 of which are shutouts.

Are we reaching some sort of record for futility?

Stick Magic Johnson in at 1st. (hey, he did say he'd do anything and everything to help revive the organization, right?)

I think he could probably hit a few out with his size.

Yes, but I dont remember exactly what it was
Something to do with the 1918 Brooklyn Robins.
And that was before they got shut out , again.

sorry

Apparently, 11 teams have been shut out for 4 consecutive games, a record the Dodgers missed by scoring two in the first game with the NY Mets. I'll have to do more research for least runs over a certain period.

No, not at all.

It was organization specific. not mlb record.

ie

The last time the Dodgers did "this" was when they were the Robins.
(fewest runs over x innings?)

Buggin me cuz I heard the dang stat on TV, but was too happy doing the
"Ike Davis is over the Mendoza Line" dance to absorb it.

No matter what they do , the NL West is still a whiffle ball league. No one from that division is going to the WS for many , many years.

God I hope they don't drain their farm system for some washed up talent just to compete this year. I am ok with witing it out for them to build a long term team with a good farm system. I know we had a really good run dueing the first half and thats why everyone is anse to get some talent in there and chase thiis thing. I would rather slow down, spend wisely on long term talent rather that these older guys like Lee who won't help 2 or 3 years down the road. We need a long term first baseman who is consitant. We need a good number 2 and 3 starting pitcher as well and with Ethier and Kemp around for the forseeable future this team will be just fine. No need to deplete the farm system to try and get there right now when it probably aint gonna happen anyhow this year.

The farm system is already drained anyway. Besides 2 or 3 good arms they don't have much else. They are void of any power hitting prospects. Jerry Sands fell of the face of the earth, and after that all they got is Kyle Russell and Joc Pederson. If they traded Lee or Gould for a good hitter young hitter and a decent prospect , no to Carlos Lee or someone of his age and caliber though. They would just be thinning out a already thin farm system anyway.

They're severely low on position players. They've got a few guys who might make a ML roster, but no one with a truly high ceiling.

With pitching, however, they've got a good number of names that will contribute at the ML level. Lee, Reed, Gould, Martin, Webster, Withrow, and Sanchez are legit pitching prospects. Lee, Reed and Martin have ceilings as 1-3 starters (though most have disagreed with my evaluation of Martin). The rest could be back-end starters and legitimate relievers.

I don't have a problem with sending away Gould, but I'd like to get something more than 3 months of Carlos Lee. If they're trading, I'd like to see them get some hitting prospects in return.

What a ridiculous statement, you know that based on what exactly?

The NL West has made it twice out of last five series, a respectable number compared to other divisions, winning it once along with all the other NL divisions. I'm sorry that our division is based on boring pitching but that's what wins championships.

Here is my take on the Dodgers overall:

Face it, going into this season we weren't very sure what kind of ball club this team would be. We had question marks practically everywhere.

Starting pitching? After Kershaw it was iffy...why in the world did they get Capuano and Harang when they could have re-signed Kuroda for the same price?

Infield? It had potential to be one of worst in the majors(actually now it is)

We knew coming in AJ Ellis would be an OBP machine but he has exceeded expectations.

Outfield was their main offensive strength, but you can't field 8 positions with a two-headed monster.

Yes, they have a new owner, but the Dodgers time wouldn't come until 2013 when their money could be unleashed on free agents.

It was a good run, but to me the Dodgers are playing back to where everyone really expected they would be with a probably a better offense when Kemp and Ethier return. I definitely did not expect them to come out that strong and for a while, I did think that it was definitely sustainable, but with Kemp out and Ethier in oblique hell what else can we expect right now?

The offseason will be extremely interesting to see, imo that will be where the fun really begins for Dodger fans.
