Why do people hate Panini so much?

I just want to see what people on here think about Panini and why most people are not fans of Panini.

I really don't have a problem with them I just wish that the NBA would allow UD and Topps to make cards. I hate exclusive liscencing when it comes to cards. Since I mainly buy low end product from stores it drastically reduces my choices.

For me, the biggest reason is the exclusivity. Because Panini is the only game in town, it means we collectors miss out on sets like SP Authentic, Topps Chrome, Stadium Club, E-X, Exquisite, Ultimate, Bowman - you name it. Variety is a good thing.

I don't like Panini design on most cards.. just like I don't like how Upper Deck runs the greedy company in recent years.

Non game used rookie autos in their highest end product. just jerseys touched for 1 second each.
sticker autos in high end
boring designs for the most part(yawn)
manufactured logoman

no real history with their products like UD and Topps had.
manufactured logo patch with cut out window for the auto(contenders)
redemptions

Good things:
Nice design in NT(last year's was very nice)
Limited has great design and nice Next Day autos that everyone likes(including the seasons update ones)
Nicknames insert auto set was pretty cool

I hate Panini because 96% of the cards that they make are rubbish. Additionally, Tracy Hackler is a chump.

People just like to complain about anything. If it was Upper Deck they would complain about the price or the same checklists Bird/Johnson dual autos Lebron/Jordan dual autos. There will always be a reason.

Yep. Panini is absolutely wonderful and no one has any reason to dislike them. We all just dislike them for something to complain about.

no they didn't.

yes their were complaints here and there but panini has been a nightmare.

Actually, this message board probably had more Upper Deck 'hate' threads back then, than Panini 'hate' threads today.

From top to bottom their cards don't differe much from Upper Deck. Panini is a European company. European business models and marketing stategies are different than we are used to.

I wasn't on this board during UD peak but others I was on had 'hate' threads but different kind and not as many as Panini seems to have.

I remember a lot of UD customer service blows. they screwed me on redemption. blah blah blah.

panini complaints are more like 'their cards are crap'. haha

i guess there was a fair share of complaints for both but i think panini complaints are mostly about crappy designs which i think is a huge deal in the hobby.

Funny thing is, everyone hates all the companies for one thing or another. But we keep buying...lining pockets...companies keep producing more horrible products....it's a vicious cycle.

I agree with everyone here in that I hate exclusivity. I'd rather have them all make competing products that I can choose from.

I don't mind Panini. Their products may suck, but after the past National, I feel they were more about the collector than Topps. The same with UD. Topps just seems clueless and aimless. But they hold the cards...literally.

I halfway agree. The quality in design and product is few and far between. For instance, the latest preview of inserts are beyond ugly, boring and simple. They are shameful. On the other hand they have put out some really beautiful designs. (Still not on upper decks level) but quality. Overall, Panini just doesn't seem to put much effort into their products and it definately shows. But being a bball collector I have no other options for new stuff. Sucks, tis life.

Yup I agree with this. Panini has no competition and people still buy their crap/ok products so they don't feel the need to up their game any.

I believe that they signed a four year exclusive at the 2009-10 season, so it should expire after the 2012-13 season.

and just so you are not waiting all day, I do have a life and have things to do today instead of staying on blowout like you seem to do so if you are waiting you will be waiting a long time or best bet just don't waste time on it anymore

As we all know the basketball collecting community is the smallest group of collectors. However, the number of collectors in 2008 (example only) is much higher than today. Why? Because Panini is the only company manufacturing basketball cards. So of course in 2008, there would be more complaints with Upper Deck, the number of collectors has declined since Panini became the only manufacturer.

But for others, it's just because they like what they see but they will never admit it because they would like for their cards to be king of the world lol smh

The fast is, Panini is making some of the best cards this hobby has ever seen, and that's that. Nothing these people can do about it, except for hate on them all the time and pretend that they're terrible, when they are not.

They're affraid their precious cards will go down in value, which they WILL. So they stay on forums all day long hating on Panini.... it's very sad honestly.

Panini is getting it done no matter what the haters say. And i'm not talking about people will legit reasons for not liking them, such as redemtpion probalems and all the legit reasons.... like I said above, i'm talking about the trouble makers who come here only to bad mouth Panini, and most of those trouble makers are my "fans" and they know I like Panini, so they love to bad mouth it..... again, it's a very sad life for them to have, but oh well. Funny at times of the sadness level
