Default Players who wear their wedding rings in play

I respect players who wear their wedding rings while playing. I heard a segment where they were giving players who wore them lots of crap. I don't understand the reason behind it. Thoughts?

I just noticed that Dan Bailey had his on just before that onside kick at the end of the game.

Most players wear gloves so you wouldn't be able to tell. But I wouldn't think a QB would want to wear it or any skill player who uses their hands to catch a ball (even though most wear gloves).

When I used to play pick-up basketball, I would take mine off.

I think Ryan Fitzpatrick of the bills wears his, and he is a quarterback!

You shouldn't wear rings while playing cause they can get caught on something and rip the finger off

I wouldn't wear mine just because of the risk of injury if it gets caught, that if it falls off during the game I won't ever find it, and it can get knicked up off of helmets. I would likely get a tattoo around my finger where it should be so that even when I couldn't wear it during game time, there would be my little ink replacement.

I don't wear a wedding ring ever. I wore it for about 12 hours when I got married back in 2005 and haven't put it on since.

Big Ben wears his but he puts a strand of athletic tape over it.

There was a segment on this last year in ESPN the Mag I think... I know a bunch of hockey players wear them while they play under their gloves.

I cant imagine wearing mine just for the simple fact of it getting caught on something.

I never take mine off. I know I don't play professional football but to me it is important to always leave it on. I like that Big Ben puts tape over his.

My husband takes his off when he coaches wrestling because his coach in high school didn't take off his ring and it would hurt the kids.

I think the bigger problem for football players is that they probably have swollen fingers during the season from all the hitting, can't imagine a ring with the swelling is good for circulation, and these guys clearly need full abilities from their hands

That is a very good point. I didn't even think of that!

Boy, now I feel like a liar. I am totally on my second wedding ring because I had to get my first one cut off while I was pregnant with our first son. I was a puffy mess. So, I took off my ring at about 8 months while I was pregnant with our second son so we could avoid the same fate.

Imagine the fallout of X player dropping a game changing pass due to poor hand circulation because of their ring on their swollen fingers, hahahaha

They should all wear them. After all it will show the groupies they are very serious about their marriage.

She wears hers every day. I just don't care for jewelry. I wear a watch, and that's it.
