Default Anyone know the status on David Booth?

Just caught a replay of Richards (I think thats who they said it was) just about taking his head off. They said he was taken out on a stretcher. Didn't look good at all. Did he move at all as they got him off the ice?

Yeah he was moving his arms and legs. His head hitting the ice did more damage then the actual hit. I'm sure Richards will get a few games just because of the fact they gave him a game misconduct and of course because he is a Flyer. I hate those types of hits because the player is pretty much defenseless but it wasn't an elbow and I don't think he left his feet to deliver the hit, it was about a second late after Booth made the pass.

Thanks for the update Bam. I didn't think Richards did/would go for a headshot intentionally. Tough situation coming across the ice like that and timing/aiming perfectly. Its been a tough couple of nights for Booth, the hit tonight and the gaff with the puck last night against the Pens.

Most players in the league will say they don't hit someone with the intent to get them carted off and I'm sure Richards didn't want him to bounce face first off the ice but Booth may have been out cold on his way down. Richards has a mean streak in him, he even took a run Chara the other night but missed. He and Ovie took a few runs at each other last year as well. Campbell has a history of throwing the book at Philly players while turning a blind eye to some other guys around the league so we'll have to wait and see how many games Richards gets. I'm guessing at least 2.

Probably 3. Booth is off to a rotten start this season, looks like this could be a long recovery, that was a huge hit.

Looked like a freak accident, but there have been a couple of rumblings coming out of Philly lately with the press and the AO runs last year that he might get a few more games than he should.

Booth was having an awful start and this looks like it could be a long, long, stint on the IR.

He got hit much harder than Okposo, the difference is Richards didn't premeditate or intend to injure, unlike that POS Phaneuf.

Anyway, I'm hearing a minimum of 1 month on the IR for Booth, could be all season long issue like Bergeron. I hope this doesn't f--k this kid's career up.

Well according to Homer, Richards isn't going to miss any games. The league agreed he led with the shoulder and didn't leave his feet plus it was within a second of Booth releasing the pass.

Now all we need to do in Flyer land is find a way to get Cobourn suspended for some games. I don't know what everybody sees in this kid because he is brutal even when paired with a pretty decent vet in Timmonen. As big as he is he rarely takes the body and gets caught behind his man time after time. The goal he put in his own net against the Pens was pretty much a sign of things to come. How can you be a minus 8 this early in the year and have your coach saying he sees some good things out there ????

I really think the Flyers need Homer to pull a Ray Shero and get Stevens out of here because he looks and sounds as lost as Cobourn. His players are starting to take on his persona and his we'll get em next time approach. Not good. It started last year when they coasted down the stretch, blew home ice and then had guys like Richards (wearing the C no less) saying we'll turn it on when it matters. The Pens game a few weeks ago really turned me on Stevens as Disco Dan blew his doors off with match-ups and line changes and that shouldn't happen when you're at home. Homer has put together a pretty deep team and it shouldn't be wasted with laid back, half hearted efforts because the coach has that persona and allows it to happen.

End of rant

well, I guess with Dvorak also injured by a Flyer in the same game, I may as well give up on the Panthers now with 90% of the season to go... thanks Philly.

You should have given up on them years ago when they let Luongo slip away. Franchise goalies are not exactly a dime a dozen in the NHL.

Yet somehow Anaheim always seems to have 2.
