Default NBA 2 year Draft style Group Break

I said in another thread that I'd try to get a basketball break going. If we do a Draft style Group Break there would be 30 slots for 30 teams. Once everyone had paid, I could log on to Ustream and randomize the DRAFT LIST LIVE. #1 gets first pick(team), #2 gets 2nd pick(team), and so on and so forth. Once the RANDOMIZED DRAFT PICK LIST was posted, you guys would get a few days to make your picks. For example, if someone picks the CELTICS? They would get every single Celtics card from both cases. Hits, Autos, Base, whatever. Cases would already be ordered, LIVE BREAK DATE would be scheduled (again Ustream). Sort, package and mail. Presto GB finished.

I am aiming at less expensive products which should mean the possibility for MORE board participation. This will also mean more breaking for me, more cards for you, but also slightly higher S&H fees. For argument's sake, let's say $8 (might have to send stuff Priority because of sheer bulk) per team/slot. Add in your Paypal fees ($2) + supplies ($1.50). Total S&H w/ Paypal and supplies= $11.50. 2 slots would get a discount. Let's keep this friendly though, nobody w/ more than 2 slots?!?!?!?!

I will e-mail BLOWOUT once some sort of consensus is near. They have always been decent about hooking up Group Breaks.

Once you guys have decided on 2 products (DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON THE PRODUCT, ALL THE PRODUCTS HAVE PROS AND CONS) we'll make this happen. If we light a fire under this, we can schedule it for Nov 20th (Friday night???), maybe Nov 21st???.

Here are some products that I think would make a nice GB. Your 2 cents are certainly appreciated but it would be much easier to stick w/ products that have prices beside them on the BLOWOUT product info site. If there are no prices or "e-mail blah blah blah" BLOWOUT might not have that product in stock.

CURRENT PRICES>>>
08/09 Topps Basketball: 6 box HTA (case=2760 cards)= $360
08/09 UD Basketball: 12 box (case= 3840 cards)= $645

09/10 Panini Prestige: 12 box (case=2304 cards)= $825
09/10 Topps Basketball: 6 box HTA (case=3000 cards)= E-mail w/ price coming...

Group Break Ideas>>>
GB1: 08/09 UD + 09/10 Topps= TBD (too be determined)
GB2: 08/09 Topps HTA + 09/10 Prestige= $1185 (roughly $51 per slot)
GB3: 08/09 UD + 09/10 Panini Prestige= $1470 (roughly $60.50 per slot)

Start talking it up and maybe by Friday (or sooner) we can come to a decision on GB 1, 2, or 3. If I get 10 members to agree to one idea, I will run with it. Post your thoughts, the sooner the better.

P.S. For newer members, check my eBay rating, board iTrader feedback, other Group Breaks, etc.. etc... Thanks, Rob (RJF)

Trying to decide between the 2 Basketball breaks:

09-10 Panini

08-09 dont want such a common set like regular UD or Topps....UD Skybox(only about $70 more) looks more interesting and has fewer cards(less shipping) should be able to keep cost under $62/slot.

Favor the 2 year /team draft concept.

Waiting to see which has the most value and draws the most attention.

I'd be down for a few spots if we got this going.

I'd say 08-09 HHP with 3 Hits per box and some nice subsets hard to pass up on a 16-Box case.
As for 09-10 I'd say Panini Prestige or Topps Jumbo, 3-4 hits per box with some nice stuff from what I've seen.

Should be around $62-65/slot or somewhere around there

I would be down for at least 1 if we included HHP and the Prestige. The thought of those sweet patches would be worth the try.

I'm ok with everything (08/09 Topps, 09/10 Topps, 08/09 Hot Prospects, 09/10 Prestige) except 08/09 UD. There's just too many common cards on that. With Topps, at least you have a decent chance to pull 1/1 Superfractor.

I'm still waiting on a price or availability on 09/10 Topps HTA.

So far it seems like people are leaning towards 08/09 Hot Prospects and...

09/10 Topps HTA vs. 09/10 Panini?

If I had to vote on one of your 3 listed Breaks I'd choose GB2.

To keep slot price between $50-$60 that would be the way to go.

I think the 09-10 Panini is the only way to go for this year, the Hot Prospects for 08-09 is higher priced and would probably push the slot price to the $70 range.

GB2 w/Topps Jumbo & Panini @ $50 looks like best value and most fun.

I would be in for 1 or 2, definitely the 09/10 panini and maybe a case of 09/10 topps jumbos.

08-09 Treasury and 09-10 Prestige? Rip cards, autos, refractors from Treasury. Base aren't really that nice, though, but it should be cheaper than HHP. Skybox would get 4 mem and an auto per box.

Looks like GB #2- 2008-09 Topps Jumbo 6 box/2009-10 Panini Prestige is what most are agreeing to and are currently available.

Let's do it!!!

Was that the 12 box case? They are showing pricing for the 6 box case...

As I see it then only 2 options exist for 08-09--- Topps Murad or UD Skybox.

Keep us informed.

I don't mind doing UD Skybox as it is inexpensive, but it's up to you guys.
