I bought NHL 2k10 for my Wii just to have a good sports game to play, and that inspired me to start following hockey again. I remember when I was really young I'd watch the Flyers with my Dad...good times! Now I live in Tennessee, so I have a soft spot for the Predators as well, but the Knoxville Ice Bears (semi-pro) will always be my team to REALLY follow.
Anyway, I was curious if anyone could tell me what a good mid-range product to buy would be. I want something with nice looking patches and decent resale value. Any year will work for me! Thanks. And please, don't bother telling me who the hot players are. I don't want to know. I'd rather open a box and have no idea who I'm looking for. That way I'm not disappointed, and then beginner's luck can happen.

Upper Deck 1 is the best product you can get every year for rookies, I supposed you could call SP Game Used a mid-level product, maybe SPX if you are dead set on getting patches.

Ehh, as long as the overall product is solid and resale worthy, I'm all for it. I'm guessing the rookies in Upper Deck 1 hold their value well then? I should've mentioned that's what I look for most in cards.

If you're into the RC, then stick with UD1. It's really cheap right now with a good RC crop.

You picked a good year to get back into it. Start off with Series 1 this week. Of course, for fun if you are just now getting back into it, perhaps dabbling in a box from 05-06 (SPX or likewise) would be fun to jumpstart the collection/resale.
