Default Help me...did I deserve this?

Guys I'm going to blow a gasket. I take my feedback rating very serious, and I do realize this is only a drop in the bucket, but I'm just flame on right now. FYI, if you've ever dealt with me you'll know I do leave feedback first.

Auctions end Jan. 20, buyer pays 27, cards ship Jan 27. Instead of 2 toploads, I use a lucite case as I normally do and pack the cards tightly so they won't move during shipment. Cards arrived by Jan. 31 as indicated by the following feedback:

Neutral feedback rating this 1 shipped in phs case also, corners not damaged though - sandwiched. whew.
Buyer: lampropy (private) Jan-31-08 03:32
06 Leaf RS Statistical Standouts Torry Holt GU JSY/250 (#320207381684) US $0.99

Negative feedback rating card was shipped in a plastic hinged snap case that damages card corners- ugh. Buyer:lampropy (private) Jan-31-08 03:28
06 Leaf Statistical Standouts Prime Bulger JSY # PATCH/25 (#320207361588) US $2.25

Here's my current response...I'm very sorry your unhappy with the card. I wish you would of stated you'd prefer your cards shipped in a sleeve and toploader, so they can bounce around in the bubble mailer. Instead of contacting me you'd rather leave negative feedback. I don't remember getting annoyed when you took 7 days to paypal me your payment. Thanks your now the 2nd person in my 9.5+ years of being on ebay to be added to my blocked bidders list!

well, I am not shocked he has private feedback. Might be one of those buyers to look out for after the new feedback rules. Heck I will go ahead and add him to my blocked list now just because it seems like a headache.

I guess you didn't read his ABOUT ME write up where he tells you how the deals with him will go down. Don't let some J.O. get to you Rob. Anyone who has ever dealt with you on here knows your the goods. "People" like him are the reason I don't leave feedback first after a sale.

I don't leave feedback first either!!! I would rather not get a feedback then post a feedback only to recieve a negative feedback from a J.O.!!

Wow, what a self serving idiot. As a seller I have never read a buyer's "About Me" page to see how to ship a card. As a buyer I would never expect a seller to read all that crap. Buyer's like him will have all the power in a few weeks. This is why no seller should leave feedback first.

Holy Cow! What a pompous ass. If you haven't read his about me:

ME THE CUSTOMER

I normally pay for auctions within 7 days by PAYPAL (unless your add specifies otherwise) - although sometimes it may be a day or so longer if I have a lot of work to do or I am out of town on buisness. 10 days would be the worst. If you expect payment in less than 7 days, write me through ebay email to let me know... I don't always remember the terms from adds when I have so many auctions to pay for. Make sure you write it with a link included to one auction (not a plain statement with no auction number), then I can click the auction number and pay you right away. And if it is the day of your deadline or I've missed your deadline otherwise (7 days or more), please feel free to do likewise. If you don't have a deadline in your add... who's fault is that? Don't write me later making one up - you'll be paid in order on my list - unless you insist on annoying me...

If I've won more than one auction from you, please provide me with a combined invoice - it will save us both time and trouble if I don't have to write to ask you to do it. And if your add is for an item with a serial number, but the serial number is not listed in the add or visible in a scan, please write me to provide me with the serial number. If you fail to do so, I will write you requesting the number. If you then fail or refuse to provide the number - YOU WILL NOT BE PAID! I have the right to protect myself from fraud. Exceptions are for items that state in the add that the serial number is absent.

I like to have my cards shipped each in a vinyl sleeve and then in a toploader. Tape or a sticker should be placed over the top of the toploader to keep the card from sliding out of the toploader. A vinyl sleeve with a flap that the toploader fits into will also suffice in lieu of tape. Screw down cases or other hard close cases without hinges are also acceptable as long as the card is not sandwiched in a way that may damage the card. A bubble mailer is preferable for mailing, but a regular enveloppe is ok for 1 or 2 cards if the cards are in sleeves and top loaders. Cards may also be sent in a regular large enveloppe with bubble wrap around it, or in a box with packing. The auction number(s) should be included in some form with the parcel. A return address should be on the parcel. I'm happy when my cards are shipped this way.

If I bid on it and I'm the winning bidder... I'M BUYING IT! Don't write me to ask if I'm going to pay for the item - you're wasting your time and mine... I have work to do and people to pay! The time I take to respond to such an email is one less payment completed - longer for you and everyone else waiting for payment.

If I haven't won additional auctions from you, and there isn't an error on the invoice you have submitted to me, then - PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT A NEW INVOICE! Your new invoice that you submit as a replacement will be on my ebay page at the new date you submit it in most cases. This may result in a delay in your being paid, because I often have many auctions to pay for, and I pay in order on my list. So if you do it thinking that you will be paid sooner...think again.

1: I do not like having cards shipped to me in hinged snap cases! These cases have rounded corners internally and this damages the corners of cards. They are also fragile and can easily be cracked during shipping, which can cause other damage to the card(s) inside. Seller: if you send me a card in such a case, get ready for negative feedback. Do not do so under any circumstances. To do so is your telling me that now that you have your money, you don't care about what condition my card arrives to me in, and that you are cheap and reckless about customer service.

2: Graded cards should always be mailed in a bubble mailer or bubble wrapped in a large enveloppe or in a box- not stand alone in a regular enveloppe. This is especially true for PSA graded cards and cards in like holders - these holders are fragile and can crack easily and can even snap in two! I'll give a negative for doing something like this too.

3: Do not ship multiple cards in a single toploader or hardcase - 1 card, 1 toploader. Use proper size toploaders for the cards - don't cram them in one that has an opening that is too narrow.

Blocked.

I'm glad he never purchased anything from me. The way we ship cards comes no where close to his explicit instructions.

I explain how I am going to ship my items in the item description. How can someone tell you how to run your auctions. That is SOOOOOO wrong. If ebay lasts with the new rules I will be very surprised

Has anybody sent this SOB an e-mail to let him know he's a high-maintenance bi-otch?? Once I get my boys to bed I'll shoot him a message and basically laugh at his "the world revolves around me attitude".

I know some of you have seen it from me before - but people like that need to be told what a-holes they are. Otherwise, they continue to think they are as important as they hold themselves out to be.

It's good to get the juices flowing after a week that has brought me to my knees!!

This is why I NEVER leave feedback first. As we discussed here, the transaction is not over until the BUYER is happy.

swerve - Thanks for posting his about me page. Nothing like adding a little fuel to the fire! I've sent a letter off to ebay (funny, but I didnt know you could actually get a court order to have feedback removed - its one of their options under the remove feedback link) to see if I can't have his feedback removed. I don't see where i did anything wrong, and maybe to my advantage he actually put the cards arrived safe...we'll see.

I thought I'd send these along, I'm now down from my raging fury to slightly myffed (a Giants SB will will get me back to my laid back happy go lucky self). I really wish I had saved my responses to his emails, so this didnt seem one sided, but here are his responses. The guy is on a power trip that is higher than ebay's desire to make money!

"card, time, money. card: there are only 25, one of which can't be mint now - that's a real pisser. additionally, plastic hinged snap case is an abomination - square peg in round hole and all. see my ME page. time & money: it's not worth my time and money to send it back. and like i wrote, there are only 25, and i only have this one. i missed your return deadline i think as well. best to just not ship cards in plastic hinged snap cases - consideration for other peoples' property and all. my ME page and my complaint should explain my negatives... i've bought quite a number of items from you in the past. but i don't give second chances on P.H.S.cases anymore... too many damaged cards. even dave & adam's card world got a neg from me for that, and i've bought probably over $1000.00 worth of stuff from them - and i still buy from them. i hope you decide to stop using those. ron."

next round of emails:

"i appreciate the last statement. but i got tired of assuming that sellers would use simple observational skills and notice the rounded corners on the inside of these boxes... they break pretty easy too. cheap for cost - sure, but you get what you pay for. i am on a cardsade against them. good customer service is the entitlement of every customer... it shouldn't be too much to expect sellers to send the property they (and i) pay for in a safe manner. you're not the only one i've nailed on this - i've even busted dave & adam's card world for it. it doesn't matter who it is to me - the condition of my and all other cards however does. so you goofed this time... just don't use them anymore and all your customers i'm sure will be much happier with what they purchase from you. and rare cards will exist in nice condition as well. i hope you take my advice to heart. best, ron."

If ebay is going to make the changes they have planned...then Negative feedback needs to be part of the dispute console then.

It would fix a lot of issues. I think it is wrong that a person can just put a neg without trying to fix the issue. So many of us will do what it takes to make a customer happy if they just allow us to. There should be a dispute console for customer service issues. Give the seller a chance to fix the customers issue a head of time.

This would resolve a lot of the problems. I think.....

I added this guy to my blocked bidders list based on this thread, so thanks for the heads up on these type of ebayers. I've been fortunate not to run into too many of these wackos in my nearly 10 year tenure on Ebay, but it only takes one to ruin it for you!!

I've dealt with this guy in the past and he actually sent me an email with a lists of his requests along with his Paypal payment. I think that I had actually sent him a NPB Alert for being over 10 days.

On another note...One of my Canadian bidders is unhappy becuase his Martin Brodeur card arrived with a 2 inch crease in it; eventhough customer described packaing as good because of how I did it. You know, I'm not issuing a refund as it wasn't damaged when I sent it and of course he didn't purchase the registration/insurance through the USPS.
