Default Why was 11/12 Exquisite such a bust?

I started collecting basketball soon after this product came out. What was it so bad? Just over saturation or what? I'm curious.

People got tired of the college uniforms, there were too many manufactured patches, no game used material and limited amount of the top rookies. No Kyrie killed the product for sure. You were also guaranteed a Lebron and Jordan per case which def oversaturated the market. Jordans dropped from 800-350 at one point.

Basically every case looked the same.

College uniforms and non colored cards pretty much killed it.

i hated the manufactured patch, if they'd done a limited logo subset with some real UNC Jordan would have been great

all of this. lack of an NBA license hurts. which in turn means that all the Panini/Leaf exclusive rookies weren't in it. and then you had no game used stuff, which meant no sick patches. sets like Limited Logos and Emblems of Endorsements couldn't be made. so UD made manufactured patches, which have never sold as well as real game used patches. and yeah, guaranteeing more Jordan autos in UNC autos made his college prices drop, but is sorta helping make Bulls Jordan stuff more rare. basically, the best parts of Exquisite (sick patches, top rookie autos, NBA logos) couldn't be made, so people had to know it wasn't going to be as good. plus the release prices were far more than what they used to be.

One of the biggest jokes and most insulting products ever. UD has a way of making sure collectors know they don't care

Unlicensed.

That's about it.

Otherwise, a guaranteed jordan and lebron auto per case was quite generous of UD.

It's licensed... just by the NCAA and not NBA.

It isn't an unlicensed product.

Clutching at straws there bro. Very few people care about an NCAA licence.

I really wish UD would just give it up but they must be making money so I doubt that they will. The oversaturation of Jordan and James cards has stifled the market on these players. I could care less about getting an MJ auto in a North Carolina uniform and even less about Lebron in a high school jersey. Upper Deck, it's been done to death now!!!! Please take your ball and go home and let whoever has a license to get these players in their product. I want the thrill of the chance that I can open a product and find one of these players in it with their NBA teams.
