Sorry if this has been brought up before. I am feeling lazy, and didn't bother to search. My brother picked me up a 1991 Impel WCW box. It was super cheap and I thought it would be a fun rip. A little over halfway through the box the front card in the pack was face down and had no number. I flipped it over and it's the Sting Hologram. The box itself made no mention of it being inserted, and neither did the packs. No where is there a "Look For Randomly Inserted Sting Holograms!". Horrible marketing. I looked online and didn't find much info on it except almost all the checklist sites have it listed as a dealer incentive and that it wasn't inserted into packs. Which isn't true, as I pulled one. Its not an expensive card but it is really cool. My Question is, I haven't sent many cards in for grading. The Sting has a soft bottom left corner, but the rest of it is gem. How bad does one corner hurt an overall grade?
![]() ![]() The thing that looks kinda blurry on the left edge is the penny sleeve catching light. Its not on the card. Same with the dust the scanner picked up. |

Yeah PSA doesn't care about corners. They just look past those.
In all seriousness it just depends how soft the corner is. I can't tell from the scan how bad it is. If it is not too bad I would say a PSA 8. If it is much worse and the card surface is more flat I could see a PSA 5. |

Thanks for the opinion. It's not really bad. It was the top card in the crap old school plastic bag type pack. It was tight and if you hold it just right, you can see the slight ding. Edges look great and the surface is great considering its a silver hologram that shows every tiny imperfection. The centering is, well its got no border so all the picture is on the card, it's a winner. Either way, its the third coolest hologram I've seen falling in behind the 1993 Wolverine and the 1994 Spiderman vs. Venom

I would get it graded (PSA) and put it in my PC. You don't see those cards a lot and even if its a PSA 8 considering all things that not bad. I would buy one that was PSA Slabbed.

The Sting Hologram is scarce, but the Impel cards were overproduced and have remained super cheap. I would guess that the hologram has sold consistantly for around $10 for the last 12 years. Not sure how graded copies sell.

theres a beckett graded one on ebay right now. but the guy keeps lowering the price (why? bc hes wanting like triple the actual value of the card) to the op: id just slap it in a loader and team bag and put it in your pc if you wanna keep it. chances are if you got it graded, it would be a beckett 8. even pack pulled, those had some minor imperfections. |

Sweet looking card. I might try to pick up a box at the flea market.

$5 sounds about right. There seems to be more of these than in the past.

I'd pay 99 cents all day long on the Sting Holo. How many do you want to sell?

What RBI doesn't understand is that there are people who will buy them all at a certain price.
