Steroid era lingo will kill him the same way it has Bagwell and Piazza. So probably won't get in, but deserves to be.

Three very similar players: Guerrero, Walker, Bagwell. All deserving, probably not making it because of career small market status.
Put any one of them on the Yankees for 5 yrs and they'd be in no questions asked.

I never heard his name being thrown around the steroid circles...is that right? He should be a no-brainer for the hall.

Borderline. He compares mostly to Bagwell and Larry Walker, but also to Jim Rice and Willie Stargell. I'm gonna go with a "no" for the initial answer, but maybe eventually if enough PED guys stay out.

Any hitter with .931 career OBP should get in the Hall, even if it's for one season.

I think he should be, he was one of the best in his prime. Talent can't be denied only the stats are somewhat borderline.

I think he should be HOFer, steroid era or not. Baseball is going to have to do something for that era and even the great players who have admitted.

His name appeared many times with steroids. That will not help him. The numbers alone should eventually get him in.

Vlad MVP .318/.379/.553 449 HR 477 2B 9059 PA
Walker MVP .313/.400 /.565 383 HR 471 2B 8030 PA
Rice MVP .298/.352/.502 382 HR 373 2B 9058 PA
Stargell MVP .282/.360/.529 475 HR 423 2B 9027 PA

So Vlad is so much better than Rice in the same amount of at bats.
Better than Stargell, even though Stargell got the MVP he had better numbers sans the HR
Walker played one more year than Vlad and was hurt a lot, thus his numbers never being where they should. I loved Walker and thought he was a borderline Hall of Famer too.

Would be a crime if not. In his prime years he was feared at the plate and had a hose for an arm.

Yea, I'd say he is worth it. Won't get in first or maybe even second try, but at some point he'll get in.

I think so for sure.

That guy could hit any ball pitched to him which is what made him such a good hitter...and he had a gun for an arm when he was younger.

Yes. It may take him 5 or 6 years, but he'll get in eventually.

Wait. I thought he retired last year or 2 years ago?

Regardless I say yes. Always loved how he never used batting gloves

Vladamir Guerrero gets in because he's a player you'll tell your kids about thirty years from now.

A lot of guys put up good number. And Guerrero is in a fringe group, as a lot of people pointed out. But Guerrero also has a "legend" to himself, much in the way people talked about a player like Duke Snider in the past.

Guerrero is, quite possibly, the best bad-ball hitter to ever play the game. There wasn't a pitch that he wasn't going to swing at - and not necessarily because he didn't have plate discipline - because he could hit it. I will never forget the home run he clobbered off a pitch that literally hit the ground and bounced.

Throw in that he played with speed during his younger days, was a great defensive outfielder (don't look at the zone metrics, remember his arm that runners never challenged, it's one of the intangibles that metrics fail to recognize), and just a likeable guy overall I think he gets in . . . probably on the 4th or 5th ballot.
