100 dollar bill

Cashed my check the other day and got an old 100 dollar bill. Its from 1990 and def circulated. A friend of mine says its worth more then $100--I say he is drunk.

Who is right?

I get paid cash a lot of times and a couple weeks ago 3 of my hundys were the old ones. I still have them and now may just have to sell them

They are a lot nicer looking than the big head hundreds. Unless its a star or has fancy serial numbers. You can get 10-20 over face depending on condition.

The article said collectors people pay big moiney for certain serial numbers.

Read this as well. Article stated that the 1st bill serial# 00000001 could go for as much as 15K. Unreal. Also touched on other serial #s collectors like were ones that were all the same (111111) ones that were duplicated (114114) and im not sure the correct term so ill just say "counted" (87654)

So after fees you lost money?. 10percent is $11.60 plus shipping. Doesnt seem worth the time to sell them.

How would you lose money? Mail it in a PWE security envelope with a cover and you should be good to go with at least $3 gain

That doesn't acccount for paypal fees, envelope, stamp or gas to get to the post office. It is a losing proposition.

I advise people to ALWAYS look at big bills - 100, 50 ... For 1934 and before. I can not tell you the number of times I see 1929 100s .... Their destination - one way ticket to shredville

I had a friend who worked for wells fargo. He got a thousand dollar bill that was sent in for shredding by a bank. His supervisor let him have it for face value. I guess that was a perk for risking your life riding in a armored car. It is a shame that they send them in for shredding. Why wouldn't you keep them if you worked at a bank and they came in?

Id be hand sorting all the quarters and halves if I worked in an armored car

Or machine sort them, at a pace of 1 box every 7 minutes. But quarter boxes are horrible, theworst denomination to sort. Halves and dimes are what I use to sort.

Smack they were in sealed bags. The pallets weighed thousands of pounds. When you were inside the building where they had the money and vault. They had hundreds of cameras. Believe me he wanted to search everything but couldn't. They search you going in and coming out.
