Why would you negotiate a best offer price and not pay once agreed upon and accepted?

Long story short, sold a baseball card to an agreed amount via messages and best offer function on EBay. This was 10 days ago and buyer still has not paid.

I would've at least put in the notes in our correspondence I don't plan on paying immediately or within the next 10 days if it was going to be an issue.

Just venting a bit and curious if anybody has similar stories.

I have invoiced the buyer once since the sale, 2 days ago.

oddly enough I had the exact same thing happen, but check this out, the guy buys a card, doesn't pay for a week, comes back & says i'm gonna pay soon can I put in an offer on this other card, so I was like? hmmmm not too excited about that scenario but I agreed, he then has 2 cards on hold basically past 2 weeks, waits almost a month, messaged me yesterday and wanted to put another card on his bill then pay, I just filed non payment cases on the transactions, probably just people playing on ebay.

Nature of the beast. Use the options Ebay gives you for the fees you pay.
Use the NPB Wizard. I use 4 days. If 96 hours after the end of the auction I have not received payment the NPB kicks in. The buyer is notified and they have 4 more days to pay.

I believe I have had 1 person not pay over the last 6 months and the wizard has kicked in 8 or 9 times.

People are stupid and lazy they need an Ebay kick in the arse once in a while

Yup same here, I had a guy win an auction the other day. I waited several days before opening a NPB cases, guy paid the very next day. However, I have also had two other auctions the last several weeks, one of which was a Best Offer accepted, where I opened cases and buyers still didn't pay. Ebay can be a very frustrating place

unfortunately, this scenario happens to be a way of life for some potential buyers.
