Default I Need Help And Info.

I sold A auto. topps Unique solo shot of Rual Ibaniez on ebay for 8.50 to a guy.I shipped it in a top loader taped it closed and put it in a bubble mailer.then a week and a half he writes me and to say he wants a refund because the card has a crease in it.I looked at the photo that I took and no crease could be seen,I refunded the money and ask him to send the card back.I got it yesterday and it had the bigest crease on it, the problem that I have is that the cards top loader had been opened and leads me to think that the card handled.so was I wrong for refunding his money or what.

If you had not refunded his money voluntarily, that person would have just filed a Paypal/Ebay dispute under "item not as described" and in the end, you would have had the money taken out of your account wether you wanted it or not. It does sound like the card was handled and possibly damaged on their end. Sucks, sorry.

I'd of had him atleast open a dispute so you'd get your fees back. Its your word against his, and in ebays eyes the buyer will win. Only safety net you'd have here is if you had insurance, but on a 10 buck sale really not worth it.

Thank guys I also had the Photo that showed no crease. I just told him not to bid on any of my auctions again.I dont sell crap nor do I buy it and for the most part i try to be fair to a fault,I will give a card away before I would sell it with a crease.I dont think we are in it to get RICH but it is my hobby.

It's possible the buyer damaged the card, but I don't really see why he would. It's just as likely that the card was damaged by the post office. A bubble mailer protects against normal wear and tear, but if a heavy box gets dropped on one, it provides very little protection. I once got a BGS slab in a padded envelop that was broken in half. What do you think happened at the post office for that to happen?

I hear what you are saying, but let's play this game further:

I win a card on Ebay. I think I paid too much (buyer's remorse) so when I get the card I check for DC and or Insurance. If it's not insured? I can damage the card and file a claim to get a full refund. I am only out of funds for what, maybe 7-10 days?
