Default Why is Exquisite so hot in Basketball but not in Baseball?

Why is Exquisite so hot in Basketball but not in Baseball?

I noticed on COMC that a bunch of baseball exquisite are cheap....or at least it seems like there are not much premium just for being Exquisite

Because Upper Deck hasnt really been relevant in Baseball and now they have no MLB license so people just look at Topps/Bowman

Because an Exquisite product was never made for baseball. Only Exquisite rookies, which is nothing like Exquisite FB or BKB, all stickers no patches besides the rookies.

This is a very big part of it. When I was selling off a bunch of my older collection and started listing the basketball stuff I had international buyer after international buyer sending me private messages about the items. That has maybe happened to me 3 or 4 times combined with all other sports.

Every sport has there own product that sells better than the others. Baseball has Bowman Chrome, Football has National Treasures/Topps Chrome, Basketball has anything that is priced over 500.00 a box because those sucker buyers will buy anything a long as panini hypes it up

The same reason Bowman Chrome sucks for basketball/football.

I would agree with basketball's global presence being a big reason why.

As well, I would say a large portion of its popularity is due to UDs exclusive with Jordan.

Mix those and you end up with lots of buyers with deep pockets willing to over spend to get their low #'d Jordans.

Or Kobe's, Durants, Wade's, or Lebrons.

Head on over to the basketball forum and see some of the PC cards people post pics of.

Obviously what I said holds more water for exquisite releases before UD lost their NBA license.

You could have at least been a little more helpful.

Exquisite was in fact available for baseball, but the timing of their production was off, as it relates to them losing their MLB and MLBPA license(s). Based on my understanding, the Exquisite set is 2010, but their licenses expired with the production of their 2k9 products. So, based on that, they randomly inserted 2k10 Exquisite hits in 2k9 labeled product, circumventing the expiration of their license.

I am frankly surprised at the comment in the OP, as I pulled an Exquisite Dual Relic from a case of 2k9 UD Baseball, and sold it for $150 or so on eBay. They are very hard to come by, and depending on what you pull, can bring in quite a premium.

the 2007 Exquisite set was a pretty big hit but a lot of the big rookies for the series turned out to be less than stellar

Thanks for the helpful insights!!!

I guess it's a collection of things that made it like that, with maybe the biggest factor being the history of 2003 Exqusite Basketball being a big boom

There was never really a true Exquisite collection style set until Five Star in 2012. They were always redemptions, inserts, or part of a lower end rookie set.
