Klay gets all the playing time and shots, but Barnes is by far the more talented player... I think when it's all said and done, Barnes will be the better player and have the better career as well.
Am I the only one who thinks this? |

Barnes is averaging 29.3 minutes per game and has a PER under 10. That's really bad.
You can say he needs more than 30 minutes a game but he's horribly inefficient for the 30 minutes he is playing. Compare that to Dion Waiters - who doesn't start for the Cavs either - and averages .3 less minutes per game (he's at 29 exactly) His PER is a 12.25 and he has hardly been a star. Most people would say he's been a disappointment. That's how bad Barnes has been to date.

Harrison Barnes. He showed it in the playoffs last year. All Klay does is shoot. asu that PER is misleading. Have you seen who Barnes has to work with when he comes in? 90% of the time he is out there with the whole second unit who scares no one offensively. Who is gonna have success when you are out there with Draymond, Speights, Bazemore and others. When he is in there with the starters the ball is generally in Currys hands who is gonna shoot or Klay or D Lee.

Waiters plays with Tyler Zeller, Jarrett Jack, and Alonzo Gee when he's in the game - with Kyrie hogging the ball. And he's hardly been good, most people hate on a guy like Waiters, and yet he's been significantly better than Barnes statistically - not just PER. And a PER under 10 is really bad regardless. Right now Barnes is a huge disappointment. He can turn it around. I hope he does. I'd still take Klay.

I am a pretty die-hard warriors fan, and even I am getting sick of hearing how much potential Barnes has, how good he could be in the future, blah blah blah. he can't produce now.....and he has only regressed this year. |

He was playing the 4 with Lee out with the hip issue. So he was constantly being guarded by opposing bigs that couldn't stay with him or he was being checked by the opposition's worst perimeter defender if they went small. That was because other teams would put primary defenders on Curry and Klay. Did he take advantage of the situations? Sure. But there were extenuating circumstances which allowed him to produce those numbers as opposed to him turning into a superstar in the playoffs. I actually just read an article on this from a Bay Area writer, if I can find it again I will post it in here.

I think Kla has a niche in the league and will always be relevant bc of that J/3. While Barnes has a much better total package I just see him being a guy who doesn't get it. On this team there are too many solid guys for him to emerge. Curry, Klay, Iggy, Lee, Bogut, etc.

Clearly Klay He's more established, has the making of the coveted sharp shooter, one of the best shooters in nba history, ala dell curry, dale ellis, reggie miller, glen rice, ray allen conversation. barnes hasn't show up until last year's playoffs and that's when pop went to the strategy of shutting down at least one of the splash brothers. he had their best defender kawhi defending klay and curry back and forth, leaving barnes open. barnes is in the convo of being next luol deng but can turn sour thanks to iggy. frankly, i felt the offseason move of signing iggy was a bad move as it'll inhibit the growth of barnes. he has more potential than klay but possibility of getting there is dwindling thanks to iggy and warriors mgmt. move iggy or move barnes.

I think Klay is better for what the Warriors do right now but Barnes' ceiling is way higher. Klay is a pretty frustrating player to watch because when his shot is not falling, a lot of other parts of his game start to suffer. I will say his effort on defense is always a plus, even if he's not successful in whoever he is guarding.
Barnes looks like he has regressed this year. The confidence doesn't seem to be there like from the playoffs. In the games I've watched he has put up some decent shots but they are not falling as frequently. The one thing that frustrates me the most about him is that he always seems to give soft fouls in the worst times, leading to and 1's that seal games. Leads me to believe that he needs to get tougher overall.

Probably Barnes. Thompson is really just a shooter. Barnes if he can get his game more polished has a chance to be a pretty good all around player.

Ironically, Waiters is the only of the 3 that's been out of the league...for awhile.
