It seems like the only things selling well now for modern is hot chicks on covers.

I think what drives these AWA books is showing these traditional girls in such lacy lingerie as I don't think they've ever been portrayed in such a manner.

I agree but its pretty superficial, I mean is the story not enough nowadays?

Variant covers like these are most likely bought by a demographic that is male, between the ages of 18-35. It is purely a marketing ploy to sell more copies of the reg books to get these covers. I actually would avoid this book for two reasons. The first is that it isn't a #1. The second is that its been almost three months since the last issue was released. I would take a wait and see approach, watch what it does, and if its a hit then I would preorder a short stack of the issue 7 variant.
