COMC Question - the $0.75 cent storage fee cutoff

So I just started getting back into selling on COMC, and my first storage fee time is about to come by. All the cards I'm selling right now are ones I bought on site so they'll all cost me $0.01 if they're above $0.75. So I had a few questions on the threshold.

1. Is the $0.75 based on my price or my price plus the $0.25 shipping an handling. i.e. can I have a $0.75 card that is really selling for $1 in buyer mode, or do I need to have that card be $0.50 to get the free storage?

2. When does the process go through? i.e. could I switch all my cards from whatever price to $0.75 and under the night of the 28th and then not pay any fees on March 1st? Or does the fee payment not work like that?

1 - It's based on your price.

2 - No idea, but I would guess if you try and cheat the system it will bite you in the butt.

As for switching the prices at the end of the month , it has been done. I am aware of one member who marks the more expensive cards as not for sale at the end of the month and they reappear for sale a day or two after the first. I've seen it for two months straight. While valid it is still cheating the system

See that's where I was curious. I assumed it'd be based off percentage rather than cards over threshold on a given day, cards over threshold seems a lot easier to "cheat."

I'm just gonna set everything as I have it now and I guess we'll see what I get charged. If it's more than 2 cents (lol) then it's based on %, if it's 2 cents it's threshold. I just wanted to know mostly before my big shipment comes in so that I can set my prices above/below that $0.75 threshold (I know I have 3 months with my own shipped cards but it's still good to know how the fees work).

No no no.

Like if you have one card at $5 for 29 days and move it to $0.75 for day 30, the "average price" was $4.85. $4.85 is over $0.75 so you'd pay a penny fee on that card.

I did this with all my cards once and it bit me in the ass. Meaning it took me months to reprice everything and I missed out on lots of sales. Definitely not worth it with a larger port. A small one, maybe, but that's your call

It worked though? It's weird that it isn't percentage based, you'd figure it would be.

It worked but definitely not worth the hassle with thousands of cards. Lost out on sales and wasted time doing this.

The fee is assessed at Midnight, Seattle time, on the first day of the month.

You are not assessed a fee on items which are priced below the thresh hold.

You are not assessed a fee on items which are listed as "not for sale".

There are people who try to dodge the fees, but it's hard to do with more than a few dozen cards.

Easiest way to save a bit on fees is to sort "My Inventory" / "Items subject to fees" / by asking price, ascending. You might find a lot of stuff marked 76 cents or 79 cents or whatever. You can then price those at 75 cents and save fees.

Because of the way the COMC storage fee structure works, the COMC bulk repricer program won't work on the 1st day of any month. So, you could use it to lower all your prices on the last day of the month 10 minutes to midnight, but then you'd have to manually reprice everything you don't want to sell for the thresh hold.

Also, there is no way to automatically mark thousands of items as "not for sale", other than to go in one at a time and mark them.

BTW, the cutoff used to be 25 cents, and things would get exciting near the first of the month. Lots of stuff would be marked at 25 cents exactly, even though the item could be repriced at 3 or 4 times that price, sometimes even 10 times.

Larger accounts could pay $50 per month and their thresh hold would be $1.

Now, the thresh holds are 75 cents for free accounts and $2.50 for premium accounts, so it isn't quite as exciting. But the storage fees are a lot less. I used to pay over $300 per month in storage. Now I pay about 1/2 that much, even though my account is nearly 5 times larger.
