Gift payments charge no fees to the receiver, but also have no buyer/seller protection.

Paypal fees are currently 2.9% + 0.30 per Transaction.
Example: if someone sends you 100 bucks, paypal will take 3.20 of the 100 so you will actually receive 96.80.

If a paypal payment is marked goods, then the buyer's shipping info will be included with the payment to the seller. A seller must send their item with DC (sig. confirmation if the payment is above $250) that can be electronically tracked in order to be "protected" against chargebacks/claims (keeping in mind its the sellers responsibility to get the item to the buyer safe and sound, if the item is broken/damaged in route and insurance is not provided/purchased, the seller is responsible).

A paypal gift cant only be made with paypal funds (assuming you dont want the standard fees assessed). Given this is a "gift" there are no recourses for the buyer so the seller really has nothing to worry about.

Advantage is for the Seller. They get 100% of the payment instead of a fee being taken.

Disadvantage is for the Buyer. You are not protected by PayPal on gift transactions. i.e. if they decide to not send you your item, good luck getting your money back.

Final Prognosis DONT DO IT UNLESS YOU TRUST THE PERSON

Well on here you also have the backing of an entire forum so if you get duped by a member or try to dupe a member yourself it won't go unnoticed but still not worth taking the chance (Using PayPal Gifting) in some cases.

I think I seen somewhere on here that if you over use "gift" PayPal can shut your account down

Good catch Nick, I used the number I for checking group breaks and figuring out how much paypal will be taking (in order to factor it in).
