Default Jason Kidd OUT as Nets Coach?

Jason Kidd reportedly pushed for a power play in Brooklyn, demanding the role of overseeing the Nets, in addition to being head coach, and was denied.
Kidd supposedly didn’t want general manager Billy King to be fired, but did want to become his boss, despite having just one year of coaching experience. As a result of the failed power play, the Bucks asked for, and received, permission to talk to Kidd. Larry Drew is officially having a bad day, as he's currently the head coach in Milwaukee. This is a pretty bizarre story that came out of left field, and you have to think that Kidd has done enough damage with the brass in Brooklyn to end the relationship. CBS' Ken Berger also points out that new Bucks owner Mark Lasry is close with Kidd, serving at one time as his financial advisor, which makes the Kidd-to-Milwaukee move look like a strong possibility.

Hasta be one of the strangest stories of the year.

Maybe Kidd just wants to play with those young Bucks they got over there.

Yea if Kidd wants that much power, he can leave.

Sources say Kidd was upset with the financial packages Steve Kerr and Derek Fisher received. He wants the type of power [Doc] Rivers was recently granted as well.

A coach holdout? Lol

Other source says Kidd is likely leaving, where he'll land, nobody knows.
What a weird turn of events.

Yeah no way the Bucks give up a first round pick for a coach that is literally trying to leave on his own.

Kidd does realize that his team under achieved this year, right? He is one of the best PGs to ever play but as of this year he is an average coach.

Can Kidd really do a worse job than what their owner is doing?

Give me some type of compensation and Mark Jackson, and I'll feel like Brooklyn somehow got a good deal out of this weird ass situation.

Kidd's always been a coach killer, career suicide now?

Realistic compensation is probably a couple of second rounders.

Ugh, and we were doing so good with all these changes until now. I don't want Kidd anywhere near the Bucks in any capacity. The honeymoon period with the new owners is over.

Agree OP this story is bizarre and way out of left field. I almost thought it was a joke when I opened up hoopshype.

Deron Williams the coach killer!

Seriously, this story is like Christmas for all non-Nets fans.

What a disaster.

Not too bad for Nets fans either. It would be a disaster if the Russian granted Kidd all of this power. Instead, he said no, and BKN should get a couple of second rounders and a decent coach.

I feel bad for Milwaukee. I'm just shocked at how this all came out of nowhere.

i think jason kidd is literally mentally unstable to some degree. i think outside of the actual game of basketball he must be a monumental narcissist. it seems obvious hes mad fisher & kerr both got $5 mil or so per year, and essentially its because kidd showed that a former player could have success right away. so thats one thing, but not a single other team wouldve hired kidd as their coach right away like the nets did, he wouldve been a 3rd or 4th assistant coach. so he owes the nets tremendously for that, first of all. so ask nicely for a raise, if you have the gall to do that after barely being .500 and losing handily in the second round. instead he wants what svg or doc rivers have, after theyve been head coaches for years & years? he must have an ego the size of few people on planet earth to ask for that.

it just boggles my mind how you would have the nerve to try & make a play like this after your first season as a coach. plus he was such big friends with lawrence frank, he gets him hired, then after a few games he cant handle what assuredly were the correct ideas & principles frank was trying to impart to kidd, so he has him sent to another department. frank is 10x the coach kidd is now & probably ever will be. this instantly becomes even more obvious that kidd was in fault there & just couldnt handle frank trying to help coach and probably his ego couldnt take that so he removes frank.

now the reported new coach names are mark jackson, hollins, and karl. i think any of them would be a great upgrade on kidd, im not sure if id rather have jackson or karl, with hollins rated 3rd. give mark jackson 5-6+ mil per year and have him come right in and he can be another returning hero to the nets. if this turns into the nets getting any of those coaches plus anything from milwaukee in picks, it turns out great for the nets.

i cant believe milwaukee would just fire their current gm and coach for kidd so that he can be both. that sounds absolutely idiotic to me, why would they have any idea if kidd is a good gm type person. i can foresee after 1, maybe 2 years, kidd wants milwaukee to do other stuff for him, and he forces his way out of their. i think he thinks that he will be in demand as much as he was as a player, well coaches dont exactly have as much power as a hall of fame player so if he starts moving from team to team that isnt going to last long until owners are fed up and basically black ball him from being an nba coach.

it seems like kidd is someone who everyone has sucked up to since he was about 13 years old or younger, and cant accept criticism, and has to have the spotlight on himself constantly. he puts on a nice guy face to the public but seems to be a nightmare to some degree behind the scenes. this is now the second time he's basically forced his way out of the nets. and this is while he is part owner of the team still and had his number retired last year. i literally think if he was out of the nba for 2-3 years he would pull an oj simpson just to get the spotlight back on himself. i would be worried if i was his wife or kids that he will do something unbelievably bizarre in the future. not kill them probably, just become a celebrity who is infamous for needing the spotlight. unbelievable.

Nets are getting this year's second rounder and a 2018 or 2019 second rounder.
