So I tried to ask this question in the National Convention thread and no one replied because I don't think many people venture into that forum. However this question really just applies to the RCR grading in general.
I plan on heading up to the National on Thursday and being there at 10 AM to submit some cards. I want to RCR them and just wanted to make sure I get some answers before hand. It's probably best to fill out the submission form before hand correct? Saves time and the prices are the same I'm guessing? I'm not doing the same day RCR, it seems quite expensive for that. So if I submit them on Thursday, am I just guaranteed to get them back by show end? Or us typically just a day or two? I've never done RCR before so I'm hoping some people on here with experience know what to expect. I would like to submit the 9.5 and higher cards for slabing, so I'm just hoping they would get done quickly so I can do that at the show as well. Thanks for any help I appreciate it. |

They will tell you the timeline I'm sure they will be busy. IMO just send em all in to get slabbed. You are gonna have to pay the same price for the slabbing anyway so doing the rcr is just valuable if you plan on trying to move them at the show. Basically it doesn't do much but raises costs a lot.

well there is couple ways to go about doing it ,
one RCR offers 1 hour answers @ $20 a card , and you will know right there two , fill out form prior , submit to Beckett Table and pay ,then ask and they will tell you if it will be done by the end of that day or the next and when that time comes you have the option of just having them take to Beckett in Texas for you and save on the shipping to Texas and insurance fee ,but still have to pay that on the return shipping top you when done < this is what I do mostly and I also write on my form I do not want anything slabbed or graded below a 9 ,so if a card does not make that grade I just pull from order and keep raw hope this info helps |

Thanks for the helpful info guys.
So it's just better to not RCR and just go the slabing route? I thought there was only a slabing fee if you RCR a card since they grade it already. So you're saying I would have to pay the grading fee all over again if I choose to slab the RCR cards. I think I might do what gingerscards said above, RCR at the show then just submit the cards that grade 9.5 or better and have them take then back to Texas to slab and ship to me. That sounds like a good route to go. |

Correct me in I'm wrong, but doesn't BGS slab at the national? I heard it costs an extra 5 to have them slab it on sight.

Take a $20 card for example...Say it doubles in value when slabbed a 9.5/10.
If you RCR it it will be about $10-$11 depending on volume of cards graded. Now you are $31 into the card. It will cost another ~$15 if you get a bunch slabbed to get it slabbed, now you are $46 into the card (assuming you bought it raw and dont have a ton of quantity to bring your slabbing and RCR costs down). So it sells for $40 as a slab and you are now into it $46. Doesn't make financial sense to me. RCR works VERY VERY well with high end cards b/c you know what it will be and there is enough money left in it if you get the 9.5 and want it slabbed.

That's what I thought, I thought if you RCR at a show and decide to slab it there was only a slabing fee since they graded it there and are slabing it there. But possibly not. Hence why I'm asking the grading experts lol.

It is full price grading, but ginger is right. Since they are sending them you don't pay shipping and insurance TO Texas they only charge you for it coming back.

Ok that makes sense guys, thanks for the help. Doesn't seem like RCR makes sense then except for the high end that I will be submitting.

That's basically the answer that I have come up with long term. Just doesnt make any sense at all.
