Default Indy's Picks for 10.8.14

Indy's Picks for 10.8.14

Sabrina #1 - This Archie Comics stand alone will no doubt sell out. Don't let the Archie Comics stigma chase you away. The story told in Afterlife with Archie #6 featured Sabrina, and in my opinion was the book of the series. It was phenominal. If they're able to continue that level of writing in Sabrina, this book has winner written all over it. Pick up a copy or two.
Batgirl #35 - Big changes from DC. New costume, new writers, new adventures. Yes, it will be printed to meet expected demand, so it'll have a higher print run than previous issues, but it will still be a key DC book in regards to the new costume and writing team. I expect a sell out and I would say pick up a copy to at least read and see if you like it.
Wytches #1 - This is a book that's been on my radar for months. Scott Snyder of Batman fame writes this book and he's promised to scare the bejeepers out of us with his Wytchy tales. I anticipate a high print run and a sell out. Variants are out there, Midtown, Ghost, Hastings and more.. Those will probably resell best as they're printed in much lower qty.
Arrow Season 2.5 #1 - I'm picking this book merely because I'm a huge fan of this TV show.

Sleeper Pick: Birthright #1 - Nobody has really been talking about this book, but I don't know why. It's got an interesting concept and has sold out at the distributor, so I'm not sure if it wasn't printed heavily or retailers are making sure they stocked up. Could be quite the sleeper book.. keep your eyes/ears on this one.

The Deadpool Variants will most likely be hot and sell quickly from stores, but unless you're a die hard Deadpool fan, I don't see any long term value in these outside of fan appreciation.

Good call! Totally overlooked that. I've been absolutely swamped this week, so I appreciate you reminding us all of that.

Lots of great picks and I'll be buying them all. The only books I would add are

Copperhead #2 - I think this book will fly under the radar with Birthright and Wytches both arriving the same day. There is only so much money to go around but I think this book is going to be a huge hit.

New Suicide Squad #3 - Joker's Daughter vs Harley Quinn. With the Suicide Squad getting heavy promotion for TV and movie news, I just gave a feeling there is a reason they brought this particular group together.

I went at least a little heavy on these and very heavy on Wytches and Birthright.

There is a #1 2nd print of Copperhead being released today as well, might pick up one of those.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great characters it would appear, cool story setup and nice artwork. I think it's gonna end up being very popular book once more people get into it.

I really wanted the Rocket Raccoon variant with Groot and Deadpool. All the ones I saw were damaged.

Guess I'll try to get one at NYCC.

My shop's Batgirl #35's were all toast. Not a decent condition one on the rack.

so I went a lil nuts this afternoon. i bought Batman TPB vol 4, Batman #35, Batgirl # 35 (1:25 variant, 8.99) Spawn #247, Arrow Season 2.5 #1 (Variant), Green Arrow #35, Green Arrow: Year One, Batman Eternal, Suicide Squad #3, Wytches #1

Debated for a lil while on if I should grab the regular cover or the 1:25 Batgirl and finally decided it was worth it to grab the variant instead. I really like that cover. Now I just need to get the NYCC exclusive this weekend while I'm at NYCC.

What is up with the condition lately on books? Especially Marvel and DC?!? A LOT of them look damaged on the shelves by me. Much more than normal. I am ok and understand minor spine damage here and there but some of these are just smashed. Did they change paper? Stop caring? Diamond being Diamond? or D all the above?

You're getting as bad as me! nice pickups. Especially if you're looking to flip the EOSV #2's, those are an easy $20+ each, and when she hits the main storyline, I expect them to go even higher.

Not only that Indy but Marvel is locking up the name Silk...I expect her either in her own title soon and or joining spider-woman.

I'd love nothing more. I have a gaggle of #4 Campbell variants being signed this weekend.
