Man...over 1,000 autos now listed on Ebay. What I thought would be a no brainer money maker may not be the case if you break. Hopefully it slows down as most people have their product today. A one day wait in getting your product just kills you margains.

I didn't post my autos until the Thursday after release last year and still made money. I am not panicking yet. However, the lot prices this year are going to be lower overall compared to last years. My Jose Tabata 20 card lot last year sold for over $200 and my Andrus and Maybin lots sold for over $100. Nothing close to that this year. I am going to have to get lucky to make the good money.

I'm not panicking either. This should have been expected. Even with the large number of auctions, there's still a demand for the autographs of the top players. The market is just adjusting to the level that they should be at. If you work things the right way, you can still make money busting. Especially if you're doing a large quantity, which maximizes the chances that you'll have a number of a great hits.
Good luck on your breaks tomorrow, Scott. I figure between the two of us, at least one of us is going to come up with a Joba Orange or better.

As I said in an earlier post, I'm glad I flipped my cases for a quick $1000 profit. The only work involved will be slapping some stickers on the side of a box.
I also stated about a month back that this was not going to be the cash cow some thought it would be, and with the weaker checklist and overproduction it was going to be tough to make money. Some people killed me on that opinion, but I was just looking at the current market conditions and the state of economics in general, and it was pretty clear what type of break this would be. I wish all of you the best of luck though! Rene

i'm going to clear about $550 on 16 boxes after fees so far. and i still have an Orange auto, superfractor & 2 gold ref ending tomorrow.
invoices are sent, items are already package and addressed just wiating to be shipped. i have about 6 hours total into the ripping, listing and packaging. pulling two Joba autos helped...... so did the Blue Ref auto Betances. i still would have broke even if i didn't pull those 3 autos. i think maybe after this year, the smaart thing to do is to buy up players lots and parallels after the first week of release at a BIG discount. or wait for sellers to list low #'d parallels & autos for cheap BIN's. having said that, i'll be swimming in a pile of wrappers again next year....lol |

I took the easy route, I got in low (not low enough) and flipped my 6 cases for $1000 profit just for changing a label.
Not as much fun, but it pays for most of next month's Bowman football, which I think is going to be dynamite. |

Ripping it is a ton of fun, but I'm at the point now where I've lost on so many newer products that I'd rather make some money on a flip and wait for something I'm a bit more sure of, which may be never?? Who knows, I thought about opening Goudey until I started seeing the pricepoint, and I can't justify touching that stuff either. Just nothing seems like a value break anymore, it's sad.

Not really sure what I am going to do with my 7 cases coming today. Originally was breaking 5 and holding 2 for the long haul. Now leaning more towards breaking 3 moving 2 and holding 2.

For those who want to sell cases, better sell them fast. Last year (and in prior years), cases shot up to $900 fast but they also DROPPED a good 200-300+ FAST. I remember people saying ‘oh you’ll never get another case of 06BC for less than 1k’. HA, I picked 2 up for $600 just a month or so after. Funny how a SMALL # of dealers can manipulate prices up AND down so fast. Like the stock market, sheep get slaughtered. 'market prices' rarely reflect the TRUE value of products.
smart way has always been to bust/list your cases fast (or hold them if you can't) and buy singles |

I don't recall seeing 12-box cases for $600 last year, and I was lookin'. Believe me, my wallet is open to pay CASH if that happens this year.

06 BC never presold below $700, went up to $1000 on release, almost immediately dropped back to $875-900, but was very stable after that and was NEVER lower. if you bought after release for $600 the seller must have been a moron. Quote:
