Default Panini's $1.5 Million "impact"

Panini America, Inc.

They forgot to mention that it's a NEGATIVE monetary impact for the consumers...

Because they ask you to buy their overpriced/overproduced products to get the Black Friday packs. If these were intended to increase sales for hobby shops and, in the end, themselves, shouldn't they give the packs with the purchase of ANY Panini product?

Don't get me wrong, Panini is absolutely brilliant at marketing and selling their products, especially the crap ones. But, why do I have to buy a $60 box of Prizm that came out at $90-$110 a box only weeks ago, which will be selling for $20 in 2 months (even with these massive blowouts - which means supply SHOULD go down) but the products blow.

I guess it's just sad that you can't buy a GOOD Panini product and get the packs.

Some may say "they don't have to offer anything" which is correct, but in reality they DO have to offer these bonus packs or their crap would NEVER sell and hobby shops would stop buying their crap and they DEFINITELY wouldn't be buying MORE cases of this crap after taking it in the arse when they first ordered, only to get more, to get these packs for their customers... The shafting just gets passed around, here a pound, there a pound, everywhere a pounding, everyone is getting some.

You're right, they are great at marketing if they can get people to pay for some of these products that come out.

I guess the BF promotion is just their way of handing out a subsidy to card shop owners. In truth, the owners, whether it be local shops, Blowout, larger dealers, etc, are their clients. I realize that collectors are the end users, but these guys are Panini's direct customers.

yeah... SOME may consider that a win for the collector - now you can buy these amazing products for half what they were a month ago, yipeeeeeeeeeeee

This tends to make those (not me) who bought at release, feel a little salty. They absolutely need to help out the shop owners and I really like the idea of BF and Father's Day packs, it's fantastic, has taken off bigtime, they added some amazing cards to the product.

It's just s shame that they are only available for garbage - here ya go - nice old pile of crap for ya, but, to make it taste a little better, we will provide you with this wonderful condiment - an Andrew Luck event worn hat. Of course, that card can only be pulled if the fat packs haven't already been picked through!

Not sure if the rabbit comes out next, but this number is completely unquantifiable.

Reach for the sky Panini, why not say it's a $2 million impact...or $10 million.

40,000 packs would mean that each pack generated $37.50 in sales. That doesn't sound right does it? How many did you get per box bought?

I believe it varies from store to store. Some of the big boys probably got hundreds, if not 1,000 packs. My LCS gave 2 skinny packs and 1 fatty per box purchased.

Your numbers make sense, since almost every garbage product you had to buy was about $40-$50, they released at $80-$180, but because they suck so badly, they are now about $50 a box.

Either way - I don't see it as a huge economic impact that Panini does

Right? hahaha - love your response!

Technically, they should have included the cards pulled from the garbage wax they were blowing out with these packs - ie "after opening 6 cases of prizm, collector XXX pulled a Gold Parallel worth $125, sold that, and bought more garbage." So, that's $400 in wax, plus the $125 sale and they got $7 for the sideline worn by a trainer Andrew Luck Santa Hat 14 color patch lava ice prizm retorfractor differential. So, in reality, that one collector impacted the hobby by about $15,392.

So, each collector who spent $50, easily had a $500 ripple effect on the economic impact, resulting in a $1.5 million day' all because Panini offered these packs, for garbage. Did I mention, garbage?
