Default Demarcus Cousins

This dude is an absolute joke. Great basketball player with a crappy attitude and no ambition.

He threw Smart down trying to block him out and looked like he wanted to fight him. This fool is the Raiola and Suh of the NBA just no need for fools like that.

The bad thing about having a reputation is that it never leaves you. Cousins had been a completely different guy since Mike Malone (who was just recently fired prematurely) took over in Sacramento, and now this incident will have people calling him a thug again.

I don't think he's a "thug" nor is Riaola or Suh they are just dumb with bad tempers and total ignorance for another human being.

It can be frustrating to see that some of these athletes are total jerks, I agree. I have realized over the years that I watch these guys because of there athletic talent NOT because they are good examples of a human being. Boobie is a great baller and should surely be in the league. Would I invite him into my house or look to him as an example on how to behave? probably not.

He's done some bad stuff in regards to his team in previous years. Been playing his ass off this year, gets into a scuffle today and he's back to being a bum etc etc. I'm with SteveO21 on this. Sure he's a bit immature and has done a lot of learning in the spotlight but he's not a despicable human being or anything.

Has he put a foot wrong off the court? I think people can be a bit quick to judge when all we see of players lives are when they're on tv entertaining us.

Some of you guys are ridiculous. Ive had the chance to meet Boogie a couple of times and he's by far one of the nicest most humble NBA players in the league. Will sign any and everything. Just because he has passion and fire on the court you judge him as a thug and horrible guy is laughable. He snapped today because he probably thought that boxout was a low blow on his knee in a blowout game. Boogie is a cool guy unlike most of these big name NBA guys.

Not 1 person has used the word "thug" so you can't say that. Passion and fire don't lead to throwing guys on the court for no reason. A ton of guys play with real fire and passion and don't pull any of the stuff Cousins does. He is a great player when he wants to be but he has a very short fuse at times.

Probably still one of the best guys in his position, he eats centers for dinner.

Wish he had more patience, if he can control his temper he would be an Elite player, even though I think he already is.

Steve021 used the word. I'd have a short fuse to if someone was going for my knee like that. Smarts not an angel we all know that.

Cool guy off the court, but on it he's a ticking timebomb. You'd think after all these years of the same BS, he'd finally get it together. Take yoga classes...meditation...personal therapists...whatever. But his talent will always be overshadowed by his lack of discipline and composure. Dude has some serious temper/anger issues.

No. If he is so good, he will be remembered as one of the greats. Look at Rodman. He did more crazy stuff than cousins.

Going for his knee? He was boxing Cousins out and Cousins threw him down.

No.

Rodman won championships. If he didn't, he would just be another 'Demarcus Cousins.'

See what I just did there?

Additionally, although Rodman was a hothead, he was a hothead with purpose. Most, if not every time he committed a technical or got ejected, it was because he was getting in the opposing team's star player's head (thus making them angry as well)...and ruining their game in the process. With Demarcus, the only one he hurts is himself.

Remember that one inbound play? He threw the ball out of bound and ended any chance of winning? Of course no one remember.

Yeah like that time Rodman kicked that cameraman.

Or the time he headbutted the referee.....

Or the time he headbutted Stacey King....

Or the time he headbutted John Stockton....

He was real clever.

Bottom line is, he still won rings. Unless Cousins wins championships, no one is going to remember him in 10 years for being anything but a hothead. Rings tend to cure a whole lot for a player's legacy.

I can't believe Rodman was used as his comparison. ^^ This I agree with completely.

So you're speaking for everyone?

He's 24, obviously immature and has great potential. He's got a clean slate off the court and is making great improvements on the court. Personally I wish him all the best and hope he reaches his potential, rather than dump on the bloke - and put above Dennis Rodman on the idiot scale just cos the Worm got some rings.

Anyone remember a guy called Zach Randolph?

Outside of die-hard pc'ers and Kings fans, he's not going to come into daily basketball convos in 10 years if he doesn't either

a) shape up his act on the court
or
b) win at least 1 ring

Preferably both.

Same reason why nobody brings up Sam Perkins or Kevin Duckworth when they talk 90's ball, despite a decade + of solid production.

Watching him play is like walking on eggshells. His body language during each and every game just screams 'im angry at the world.' You literally cringe everytime he goes up with the ball inside the key with a defender on him, because he'll flail his arms and start screaming at the ref begging to get T'd up. Every damn play.

And not even his teammates or coach can calm him down.

Reminds me exactly of a young Randolph on the Jailblazers except I gotta put boobie atleast one notch above on the talent level

I'm a big fan, but this franchise is nutty. Cousins will mature.

Smart was trying to take out his knees plain and simple. I don't blame Cousins for reacting like he did. Was a dirty play on Smarts behalf.
