Default Well...I lost it

So my white whale/holy grail popped up on eBay, the Exquisite RPA 1/1 of Dysert. It was at $202 with a minute to go and I bid 401.99 and lost it for $406. Gotta say, couldn't be more disappointed that it won't be in my PC. I know I know, I have loss of 1/1 etc but that one i valued more than the champ tickets and chrome super i have.

Is there a certain time you generally become a douche bag? Or do you just wake up and it comes naturally?

Man, I was hoping you would win it. I checked the bid history and by the looks of it. That's the bidder also known as e***e or Howard. I'm pretty sure that one of his other Ebay I'ds. So with that said. It's gone. When I messaged you when it first listed I really wanted you to get this because you are as diehard of a player collector as I've seen. Cross your fingers and let's hope I'm wrong about it being him.

Sorry man. Always a disappointment. Try to look at is as 400 not spent one 1 card rather than missing the 1/1. When I was collecting Corey Wootton I missed the nt 1/1 I think. I want to say I bid $105 like I got this nope. Couldn't believe it went for like $125 but 4 years later, I'm glad I didn't win it.

Yeah, that e**e guy has DEEP pockets and doesn't let stuff go later.

I've lost several auctions to him. At least he had to pay heavy to get my cards.

I'm hoping he is within ten years of retirement and will auction off his entire collection.

That day will be a feeding frenzy for collectors.

More like feeding frenzy for him lol. The day he retires is the day he's bored and has too much money and scours ebay all day. Not to mention gearing up for his stocking up to leave something down to the grandkids mode.

The only hope is whoever inherits this collection in the next 40 years is that they don't collect cards or have any sentimental value to them.

That sucks for you, I hate the feeling of knowing your most desired PC card is gone for good.

I do have to question your bid though - I don't understand why you (or anybody) would ever bid an amount ending with .99 on an item. Would you have felt worse had his bid been $402.00 and you lost by 1c? I would always go over the dollar, just incase someone has bid .01 or something.

Thanks guys. I really hope it pops or doesn't get paid for. I've been in contact with the seller and he's pretty cool so he'll let me know either way.

I don't know what the amount is, but after a certain point it goes up my $5 increments. I lost it by $5 so I'm assuming their max was a lot higher than 406.99 lol

I was expecting in the $250-$300 range and would have been interested a bit under that. Sorry you didn't get it. Hope it shows up again.

Yeah I understand that, but what I'm saying is that bidding less than the dollar only seems to make you more likely to lose - because anybody else could have bid on the dollar or just over it. It just seems like a crazy amount to end a bid in if you're actually serious about it. Instead of $401.99 why not just bid $402.02 and give you a slightly better chance?
Obviously in this case it would have made no difference, but on any other item why lessen your chance to win it?

Bummer! I know the feeling...I missed out on a Kendall Hunter chrome superfractor auto and I'm still kicking myself over it. I have the non-auto rainbow complete and wanted to shoot for the auto rainbow next.

Hopefully it will surface again so you can get another shot at it.
