What does everyone think Ellis will do in the pro's? 2nd round pick? undrafted?

Big KU fan here. Perry is already a tweener at the college level so there's no way it goes well for him in the NBA. He is very disciplined so I could see him doing well overseas. Not sure if the passion for the game is there for him to pursue that route though. Love the kid but got to give you the honest truth.
Oubre is KU's best pro prospect. His game should translate very well at the next level. |

Kelly has some potential, but very far to go IMO. Right now he's not much different from a thinner Xavier Henry. Oubre needs to learn how to handle the ball with both hands, and be able to see the floor better. He needs a minimum of one more year regardless of what the draft prognosticators are saying. As far as Perry Ellis is concerned he will more than likely be a four year guy, which will be good for him. I know his freshman year people had him as a late first rounder and early second, but has somewhat been stagnant since, although his numbers are decent. I actually believe if Perry comes back (which he will) he can be a mid to late first rounder. He's been developing his post moves, outside and mid range shot, and handles, and for a 6'8" guy that type of skill will always get a look at the next level. Look no further than the Morris twins, Markieff was 6'9" and Marcus was 6'8" and they were both at that tweener stage. Marcus actually played more minutes than his brother but Markieff got more of a look because he had more length, but both twins had to develop ball handling skills and an outside shot to compete at the next level (Markieff actually doing well and Marcus has had some monster games with less minutes), both attributes Perry has. Don't be surprised at all if he's a mid to late first rounder next year. Only thing I wish Perry displayed more of was on-court vocal leadership. |

anthony bennett level offense stopper (ball sticks when he gets it) with a fraction of the talent and no inexperience/bad coaching excuse. generally lost on defense in a scheme that doesn't ask him to do much. unlike the morris twins, perry's pre-NCAA hype due to playing in the garbage HS landscape that is the state of kansas; current hype is by default because the good players leave lawrence every year. he's not gonna make it.

How bout those Mountaineers? Sorry for the troll. I had to. Lol. Just pumped to have watched us get back on track after the string of awful games shooting.
Now that it's out of my system, I don't see Ellis having a great NBA career from the couple games I have seen of Kansas. Then again, as I said I've only seen a couple KU games so I'm not the most knowledgable.

Ok Im better now, its out of my system. Very bitter, lol. Good game though. As much as I love KU, I still root for other BIG 12 teams to do well, just not against us, to make our conference look better.West Virginia just like KU this year has a minimal shot at making a deep run into the Tourney. Both teams are lacking in several areas to compete against the better top rated teams. |

You just have to understand how Morgantown is. It's hard to understand unless you've been here. This is one of the rowdiest places you could possibly come to when it comes to sports. The whole student crowd looks for any reason to storm the court/field, and then there's the old tradition of burning couches. Not just after sports wins in the last couple decades, but after anything at all. After Bin Laden was shot, the town had over 80 fires set to celebrate with parties shutting down streets. Cars flipped over into bonfires set in the middle of busy intersections. Hell, after they beat Baylor this year the whole town rioted just because. This town may be full of idiots, but they know how to raise hell and party. haha. As for WVU this year. They play defense like no other when they decide to flip the switch and run their full court press. They're ranked number one in the country in turnovers forced per game. They just have no consistent outside shooters. Our midrange game is above average at best. The whole "defense wins championships" only works when you can put up 60 points yourself as a team. I don't think we have the scoring options outside of Staten, Williams and the freshman Carter off the bench to make a run. I would like to see it, but i'm not sure.

Following up how Morgantown looks for any reason to go absolutely insane
When College Gameday came to town. Keep in mind we don't even play Pitt anymore, but it makes it even more hilarious to the analysts. lol http://youtu.be/A15NEtKKroQ The night after the Baylor game http://youtu.be/fcLescObZZY The night that Bin Laden was killed http://youtu.be/OZB4PVAWry4

I think Ellis gets a shot. I've seen many 2nd rounders, heck late first rounders, that are worse than an overall player than he is...Even if he's not drafted, someone will give him a Free Agent chance..
Superstar, or a even star? No, but he could play a role and have a few years in the NBA to cash those checks. .. |

I'm the one who wrote that earlier. Probably being harsh. Seems like he's gotten worse since his Freshman year. I'm sick of him spinning into a double team and losing the ball. His three point shot is probably what gives him half a chance to play in the NBA. But he's soft, stupid (actually a valedictorian), and just doesn't have what it takes I don't think. Solid college player, but not athletic enough for the pros.

Hey now. You know as well as I do that if Staten had been in that game, they most likely wouldn't have came back. That was just an absolute terrible way to close out a game. I have said it before, we don't have enough players with a consistent jump shot. We can play D (most of the time, when we're not imploding). Its just that when you take Staten away, that's the leader. With the exception of him and Browne that is a very young team. That's also the first time all year I have witnessed Carter be ice cold from the floor. I don't know what was going on with him. He's normally big time, but he was garbage today.
All that said. That was a hell of a comeback by Kansas. They deserved that win. It was hard fought regardless of how bad WVU tried to give it away.

But what is undeniable about us right at this particular moment, and something no other Big conference school will ever duplicate is winning 11 STRAIGHT Conference titles in one of the most difficult conferences and consistently one of the best conferences in history. Facing the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge, DJ Augustine, Blake Griffin, Michael Beasley, Marcus Smart, Tristan Thompson, Kevin Durant, and many others over that time span (not to mention some great coaches as well), and winning every year. Think about it, LeBron was a rookie when this streak started. This accomplishment really deserves it own thread, but many of the people on the forum aren't into college thus wouldn't appreciate it. |

I can see him bouncing around from the NBA to the D-Leauge as a role player but that's about it.

D leaguer who occasionally gets up to the NBA but never sticks. Then leaves for China to make some dollars.

Kelly Oubre is the pro prospect I'd point to on the roster right now as potentially special. Perry is a 'tweener', Marcus Morris-lite. Marcus is only starting to get minutes and define his role, and I don't think Perry would make it that far.
