Default Did I break or build a better case? Poll Included

As many may know I buy a lot of 12-13 Absolute. I recently broke an inner case (six boxes). The results were decent-ish. I was on the fence about buying another inner case but instead decided that I would probably end up with an accumulation of cards that I want if I just spend up towards what I purchased my first case for ($435 delivered).

Anyway, I am curious to see which case people think that I did better with.

Case 1:
Rookie autos

Rest of the rookie autos plus redemptions. The redemptions are Avery Bradley, Norris Cole, Tornike Shengalia, John Starks and Kyrie Irving

Spectrums. A case yields approximately six of the Retired base and 2-3 Spectrums of varying numbering.

Each inner case should yield three relic of varying numbering.

Lastly:

Case 2:
Case 2:
This is the case that I put together. In order to allocate money to some nicer cards I needed to cheap out somewhere. I was lucky enough to only need to allocate about $1.25 per RC auto due to a lot purchase from a member here. I decided to be cheap with my RC autos since I am not a huge fan of the RC auto set.

Same thing here. These were from the same lot and hold an allocation of $1.25 per card.

A couple lesser priced autos:

These were primarily ebay pick ups.

I also picked up from COMC a Kevin Martin Spectrum /10 for a few bucks. I also picked up a Demarcus Cousins Spectrum /25 from a member here for $5. At that point I had the major pieces purchased and could toss an extra buck or two towards a non-essential.

With many of the above cards running under $2 I found myself with some bucks to spend on some nicer pieces:

I had a KD auto from a different product but want to get an Absolute on care auto. The same seller that helped me out with the Rc auto lot actually pointed me in the direction of a member here that had the KD auto. A great dude. As for the Blake, I won it on ebay.

So, did I build a better case than I broke?

Great stuff Jason. I remember you did this w/ a box build a while back. Those patches you landed in"case 2" are awesome. Love the Big Al. I'm shocked you don't like the rookie auto set. A bunch are on card and they are all serial numbered. I personally really like them. If you happen to have an extra Isaiah Thomas let me know!

Before I can answer, which scenario provided more enjoyment?

Also, another thing to consider is cost of supplies. I know it's not a huge factor, but when buying from others, my guess is they provide top loaders.

I just opened a bunch of 11-12 and 12-13 Limited and I had a bunch fun opening the cards. I don't know if I would've enjoyed scouring eBay the sales section on here for weeks looking for a case worth of cards.

I will check in e Isaiah Thomas front. I will let you know. The rookies autos are on but typically bad boxes of this product are Made from them. I should have said that instead.

Thank you sir. I was able to cheap in some areas which gave me the ability to load up in other areas.

I love breaking was but I love getting value from my money so both provided the fun and excitement. As for supplies, I always always always use my own supplies. I store my pc in one touches so I just ditch the top loaders that a lot of this would have come in. However, props need to be given because I didn't figure in supplies if they were not included. Thank you for that.

As for actually looking for the deals. I get great enjoyment from finding deals so in me eyes that is part of the fun.

Breaking is definitely fun, while it's happening, because of they unknown and the rush. However, this proves my stance on not buying boxes and just going after singles on the secondary market is the smarter way to go financially. For the money you spent, you could've BUILT several of case 1 if you wanted to. I really like case 2. The Durant auto and the patches are my favorites.

Unless you get lucky on a case or box, odds of getting equal $ value are typically not in your favor.

Case two looks great! I really like the Wall patch in the first though lol. Case 2 wins for me. Do you have an album with all Absolute cards thus far. I am also curious, do you have any specific set goals in mind? Are you going after any and everything? I really liked this product too. Do you have any extra Kyrie RC Autos?

I LOVE breaking wax but I love getting value even more. I actually had about $30 something bucks left over that I did not need. I could ave upgraded a rookie auto or two but I decided not to.

I LOVE the wall but the kd and Blake combined are better than the kyrie and wall. The second tier hits from the second case are stronger than the second tier hits in te first.

I have an album on Flickr. I will post a link when I am on my laptop.

As for goals, I am just emassing a nice collection of absolute. I love te star gazing primes(like te wall and Jefferson) so I will definitely overspend when one comes up for sale. Everything else I will buy up until a comfortable price and then I will let it go.

As for the kyrie rookies, I had one and sold it.then I hit this one. I need to see this one and te auto before I decide what I will be doing with it.

Here is the link for my 12-13 Absolute collection. Most of what I have is in this folder. There are still some stragglers that I am waiting for in the mail as well as some that I simply have yet to scan in.

I liked Absolute but took an Absolute bath on all the boxes I busted. The best card I ever pulled from it was that Al Jefferson Frequent Flyer above I sold you on COMC. I'd say almost without fail you can assemble better cases then just luck into.

That was you who sold it to me?!? Thank you for the deal! I thought it was a good price for a card that I had wanted for a while.

Absolute has been good to me when I have broken it. Not thinking in terms of dollar-for-dollar against what I could have picked up for the money but I am thinking in terms of what I got plus the excitement of breaking wax. For me, it has been a very fair product since the first box I have opened.
