Default gold vs. copper minted in springfield

I'm sure there's been a thread about this on here, but I'm new so cut me some slack geez...

Haha anyway I've seen a few instances where the 97-98 Topps minted in Springfield which are supposed to be copper and predominately are have turned out gold. Others opinions as well as my own are that they are just printing errors.

Would anyone have any estimation of the value of these (if any) or how many may be gold?

Personally I am not a fan of error cards, but if I PC'ed a player I'd definitely want a gold one over a lame copper one.

I just couldn't beat the price on this one...if it is indeed gold? It could be a weird camera angle.

I have quite a few of these from this year. I can honestly say I think this is just a foil variation at best. I don't believe Topps intended some to be copper and others a gold foil.

No I don't think it was intended whatsoever, otherwise they would have made a point in beckett, do you think they are rarer though is my question?

I actually think it is just the scanner. I may go home and play around and see it that works. Note that Rodman card has very consistent gold foil in the springfield stamp as well as the topps logo and his name.

It is not the scanner, trust me. I have the Duncan and the Marbury. As I told OP on HK, there is no mistaing the bronze for the gold.

Here is my Duncan:

I never realized this since I thought all looked bronze, but Beckett refers to the cards as having gold foil.

Here is my Duncan:

Very interesting...

Then it looks like a production error of using the wrong color foil.

I picked up the Shaq gold version because I had never seen them before. Would love to hear more information about this set.
