Default 06/07 Luxury Box - 1/1 From Target

Hey guys.
I just got back from Target and I had to tell this story.
I got the itch to open 'something' tonight. And being from Minnesota, there are no more shops open this late since the demise of Shinder's. Well, as I'm walking in the door, I see an employee messing with the sports card section. I walk over there and witness him opening up the 06/07 Topps Luxury Box Retail Box and putting it back on the shelf. Keep in mind, the boxes are 2 packs for $29.99. So, he walks away and I stroll over to the box, pick up the 2 packs, find the one that's hard as a rock and walk to the cashier. As I'm walking, I know to myself that the pack is not going to scan. Get to the cashier, it won't scan. She asks if I know how much they are and I say $2.99 - those are the normal prices for loose packs on the shelf. Feeling a little guilty knowing that it's wrong to do that, I figured it was just a plain old jersey. Get back to my car, open up the pack and to my astonishment, This card appears:

#1/1 - 7 jersey card - Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzi, Shaq O'Neal, Chauncy Billups, Dwyane Wade, and Tim Duncan.
(The 1/1 stamp is to the right of the Lakers logo on the front)

This is by far the best card I have pulled from a retail box. I didn't think they put 1/1's in retail packs.....

And sorry for blabbering on and on. Comments welcome.
Thanks for reading.

Wow, CONGRATS on being a pack searcher and ripping off the store. You should be proud of yourself.

I saw this post before, but never read it until now. I agree with Mr swerve on this one...

Way to go... can you give us your eBay username so we don't end up doing business with you by mistake in the future? Ugh.

Nice card. It's a shame you got it the way you did.

I cannot believe that you just posted how dishonest you are. Do you know that you can never make up for what you just posted if it's true? The people on this board would never think it's cool to rip off someone.

You should go back to the store, tell them what you did, and pay the right price. Don't make them think that it's their fault either. If you take full responsibility for your actions, please tell us about it. And hey, you still get to keep the card. Chalk it up as a very good lesson. Do the right thing. You'll feel good about it.

That might be a little much at this point. He didn't do something that most or all of us hadn't thought about doing at some point in our lives. It's just that most of us know right from wrong and how to act on what we know.

This could be a lesson for him that he will benefit from the rest of his life. Let's see if he does the right thing. He should gladly want to go back to the store, admit to what he did, and pay the right price. After all, he got a great card and, he won't get into any trouble for admitting his mistake.

him saying that the pack was rock solid is beside the point...who cares if he said it was rock solid, i know alot of people around that do worse that than....everytime i walk into meijer or walmart or target and see those packs inside the plastic things and the huge bend mark in the middle of the plastic its obvious that alot of people do it....the thing you should be judging is his knowledge that he knew the pack wasnt 2.99....he knew the 2 pack box was $29.99...so individually they would be $14.99...my opinion its mostly the stockers fault because each box clearly states box sale only...

It's not "mostly" the stocker's fault. The buyer clearly knew the packs were supposed to be much more than $2.99. He clearly defrauded the store. And I don't think anyone is pressing the issue that he searched the pack. The main/only issue is what price he told the checkout clerk.

There is a guy in this very thread that should be kicked out of this forum. And I don't feel it should be the original poster. It's that AND1......GUY. He brings no value at all to this site.

The stockers fault? You have got to be kidding me?????? This guy clearly lied about the price to get a good deal. It has nothing to do with the stocker.

If it's the stocker's fault than you might as well blame the cashier as well for not checking the price and TRUSTING the customer...

i said its mostly the stockers fault...not completely...of course its his fault too like I said in the thread because he didnt tell them the right price of the pack...but if its that hard not to see the "box sale only" sticker...than america choses who they hire very well dont they?...as to pack searchers...i hate them and they should have to pay for every pack they searched

If they do not hire minimum wage workers then that pack would cost $49.99. You get what you pay for shopping at Target et al.

I would agree with you Jug in every instance but this one. The buyer here got WAY more than he paid for.

Wow, I left myself open here. Yes, I was being general. It definitely does not apply here.

The real question is why not? But seriously I got tired of seeing all the flawless threads and just started looking at old ones. Really old ones.

I can't believe he made a thread bragging about it, too.
