Default Why do Ebay sellers do this??

In the past 3 days I've come across 7 sellers that have $xx.xx/obo for an item and when I make an offer they decline, I follow up with another offer and they decline stating they are firm at the asking price. Why even list it with a best offer if your firm on your asking price? Attention would be my only guess....

Sorry, I was just very firm on those 7 prices. You can check out my other auctions for some great deals, though.

Thanks.

My least favorite thing is when you make a fair offer and the seller doesn't even bother to respond. They just want to let the offer sit so that someone else sees that the auction has a pending offer, and will then get antsy and just hit the BIN.

this is incorrect, ebay has done away with the feature for almost a year now. No one else but the seller of the card can see if there are offers or not. So no potential buyer can see any offers that may or may not be there.

It's a annoyance, about as bad as the seller's who never respond to a offer

It is pretty crazy to add the Best Offer option and not even counter with anything, or at least disclose, in a rejection, that they're looking for more.

There is no need to justify everyone's action. You are not going anywhere. Some sellers are just hard to deal with. Just like some buyers, there is no need to tell them this card is worth $100 when they continue to low ball you with $10 offers.

I usually walk away after I make my highest offer. They don't deserve my 2 cents.

Because some sellers are stupid. It aggravates me as well - if you have OBO on there and you don't like my initial offer, counter. Let me know what kind of wiggle room you have. If you have no interest in negotiating, don't have OBO on there.

Yeah, I have those in which I make a fair offer on a card and they decline it, I make another offer, they decline it, and I ask them what's the best they can do and they either won't reply, or reply saying the BIN price.

I personally when selling will counter all offers unless I get a lowball offer. For example, got offered 30 dollars for my 2012-13 totally certified red kyrie auto rc bgs 9.5/10. Why should I waste my time countering someone who is going to offer 1/5 of the market value? I usually will block buyers that give drastic low ball offers because if you can't come at me with your best offer then you are not a person I want as a customer.

Can't understand why sellers don't counter if they do not have a auto-decline. Seems to me they like displaying their cards in an online museum.

But why would the seller give you their best price during the negotiation?

C'mon...

Nobody around these parts actually does that, do they?

They must want to make sure their card appears when a potential buyer searches for cards with the BO feature. Or, they delight in offering a card for $100 and then courtering every offer with $99.99.

Well I don't expect them to, lol. I'm just trying to get some kind of response out of it and will ask them to counter if my offer is to low. If I do that, it typically results in the $99.99 like said above, or $5 off.

Their item their listing they can do what they want. Many times the BO is just to screen buyers. I have added more scumbag buyers to my BBL through the BO system than most other methods.

Then someone will create another thread about how the seller makes a counteroffer with just $0.01 off.

Change it to .ca from .com and you can still see it. I thought that was common knowledge? I've been doing it the whole time.

I got hit by this 2 weeks ago, put a BO in for an item I really wanted, and prob would have paid BIN if was declined. Waited and finally got no response and offer expired email, put my offer in again (ion case seller was gone due to weekend) and got reply 2 days later item sold at BIN. I guess its my fault for even trying to make offer when would have paid BIN price, but would have made that move if had gotten any response.
