Default New to basketball

Hey everyone just wanting some input on what's good in basketball to collect. What brands and such. I've collected football for years now but I was raised in a basketball family so really unsure why I haven't collected any basketball. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Brock

This is a good year to start with this draft class.

Low End: Donruss/Hoops... around 50/60$ box. Pretty fun product for the price.

Mid-End: Prizm / Select (my fav's) You also have Gold Standard, Totally Certified, Court King... which are solid products, just i'm not that big on them.

High end : Immaculate, National Treasures, Spectra, Not cheap, but some nice cards.

I'd recommend with starting with Prizm or Select. Pretty similar to chrome or finest with football. Kinda depends what you like.... jersey/patches, rookies, auto's , parallel's, all the above.

Prizms are my favorite cards. Select I guess is the brand? Why knows lulz Never bought any packs (to expensive) but I bought a boat load of Kobes because they look that nice. Those are cheap and pretty hard to find one of those that's not mint or gem mint.

Welcome to the family! As you said, you have collecting football cards for many years, so you are well experienced with the hobby. You can collecting the same way as you collecting football cards. You can start with your favorite player or team, or you can start collecting on a specific set. I suggest collecting the cards that will at least hold their values in the future, we probably can't make a lot of money by selling cards but at least we don't want see our highly paid cards drop in value either. Who's your favorite player?

Since you are familiar with NFL Cards, and Topps is losing NFL cards in 2016….

Prizm is Topps Chrome
Select is Topps Finest

Well I'm a big celtics fan me and my dad both and I loved rondo but of course he is gone now but I love Stephen curry. No particular reason he's just so exciting to watch and makes top 10 plays day in and day out.

There are a lot of young talents right now, of course they are exciting to watch and hot even in collecting's world, but there is alway risk when collecting young talents. For myself, my favorite player are KG and MJ, and I started collecting their cards since late 90s. When Vince Carter won his Slam Dunk title in 2000 and I was amazed not only by this dunking skill but also his great performances in the games. People compared Vince to MJ at that time, and Vince was even popular than Kobe and KG at a short period of time during 1999-2000. At that time, Vince's cards were sky high, especially several of his main rookie cards. My fund was so limited for having any of Vince's top rookie cards at the time, so I picked up a mid-end RC along with some other low-end to mid-end inserts as my VC collection, for doing that, I sold most of my KG cards that I had collected for years. Today, the Vince's cards dropped from sky to the soil, but the KG cards I sold for Vince's didn't change much.
