Default 1998-99 Topps Finest ID'ing Non Protectors

1998-99 Topps Finest

How do I identify a non protector card from this set? I would like to know the difference from a card issued as a non-protector versus a card that has had the protector removed. Thanks guys!

The back of the card has the same chrome like finish as the front.

+1 to this. The back of the non-protected will also have the refractor finish, where as the standard refractors are a matte finish on the back. The non-protected will also feel as if it is on a slightly thinner card stock.

Also, there is a non-protector refractor version of each card as well....
Those are extremely reflective on back

There were 3 parallels in the 98-99 Finest..

1. Refractor - easily identified by the peel in front with the Refractor finish. Although there is little refraction happening at the back of the card's glossy backside, there's still the peel coating in front of the card.

2. NON Protector - Double Chrome finishing stock surface on both the back and front side of the card. This doesn't have any peel coating in the front of the card.

3. NON Protector REFRACTOR - this one has a double sided chrome finish on both the front and back of the card's surface and both sides are refractor. You can't miss this, that's for sure and yes, this doesn't have the peel attached on either side of the card.

Hope this helps!
