Default If the Cavs lose this series, can we finally...

...put Lebron's name to rest as a candidate for GOAT? I mean 2 for 6 is not impressive, and even if he wins 4 more championships the rest of his career, 6 for 12 doesn't sound as beautiful as 6 for 6

The only GOAT LeBron will ever be is the kind that eats cans.

Nope. Not going to say he's not a "candidate" for GOAT. He's got many years left. If you were to draft anyone in history to be the franchise player of your team, is Lebron not in the top 5?

Hey, i'll grant you number 5 to 2. But he won't be able to supplant his airness at the top.

I still think he is up there, his game lacks very little.
Just like MJ, but as I've said before, bigger, Stronger and faster.
But we should wait until he retires.

LeBron will have to average a triple-double and then some to pull some magic out of his ass in these Finals.

If I could draft Jordan or Lebron as of right now, Jordan all the way. But, that's almost like saying if I could draft Bird or Curry, Bird is my choice because his career is over and you know what you're going to get. The difference is Curry is the best shooter I've ever seen.
Jordan IS the GOAT. I can't see how that's disputed. Lebron is better than Kobe. So, lets see what happens down the road before we assume.

Edit: Curry hasn't won a championship yet (go Warriors). But if he keeps up his current pace, expect him to be in the same sentence as the afformentioned players. I call it now though, CAVS in 7, Lebron gets it done to cement his legacy!

LeBron's frame is definitely bigger. But stronger and faster? Did they competed in a weight lifting contest and Jordan lost? How about a 500 meter dash and LeBron blew Jordan away?

I think he belongs in the conversation, but that does not mean he IS or will ever be the GOAT. He still has time to add to his resume but personally, it's hard to knock off MJ.

I think a debate about MJ vs. Lebron is fine, but some people act as if I slapped their mother if I disagree. Grow up.

MJ is without question the GOMT, which is the greatest of MY time, but I didn't watch Russell/Wilt/Oscar/West/etc. Stats only tell so much, imo, but I'll definitely take MJ over anyone else who had a career after I was born in the early 80's.

You can have Lebron, and that's a great choice.

I'll take Mike.

His winning percentage in the Finals certainly wouldn't make his case strong.

The fact that he gets to the Finals on whatever team he's on certainly makes a case. Where's the help? If he had Pippen and Rodman on his team would they dominate?

No, because they would still need someone to take the winning shot and not disappear in OT.

Right. So he had Wade/Bosh the 2 years he won, and now he has (perhaps had) Irving and Love. Granted, the team suffered injuries, he certainly hasn't been surrounded by a group of nobodies. Kyrie...the same guy who's a career 22/5 player...or do we automatically just cherry pick for arguments? Thompson certainly isn't a scrub in the rebounding department either, arguably the best in the league (a la Rodman).

Kindly disagree on your statement that just getting to the finals this many times makes a case. Ask Jim Kelly and Dan Marino how that argument works out for them. Getting second place does not make you a winner. (queue the special olympics demotivational poster)

2 sides to it. at least he made finals this many times but yeah losing on big stage hurts so much I mean he is a missed 3 from 1-5. I sound like a homer but it is also a lot on his teammates minus the dallas series. Its okay AD will go 7 for 7

I think it hurts his case cause he simply can't finish.

The fact that he gets to the finals automatically implies he HAS the help - you don't make it to the finals in any sport without help.

So he by default has the help and simply can't finish. To be considered the greatest, you must finish most of the time, not 33% of the time.

Right. One man can win the championship. Scott Norwood, hello. It takes a TEAM, and when he had Wade/Bosh he won. He took the Cavs to the finals earlier in his career. Name a star player on that team. NONE. Varejo? Who's the best running back that played with Marino? Karim Abdul-Jabbar?

Lebron is really good, top 5 all time. But....... he hasn't even caught up w/ Kobe, let alone MJ. The media has hyped the LBJ-MJ debate so fiercely that for some unknown reason Kobe gets thrown to the back burner. IMO, Lebron hasn't reached Kobe's level. Kobe hasn't reached MJ. How people compare LBJ while disregarding Kobe is a complete mystery to me.

Jordan didn't start winning championships out the gate. It takes time to develop a team and chemistry. Also, Jordan came from the era of true dynasties. The current structure of the nba makes it very tough for a team to keep its nucleus together for more than a few years. And Lebron willingly jumping ship twice doesn't help that. But his current tenure with Celeveland is still young. There's a lot more years left.

That said, Lebron is in a pathetically weak eastern conference. Has been since he entered the league. Making it to the finals is impressive, but I think his losing record on the biggest stage just goes to show how the significance of beating out the eastern conference competition isn't all that great. Pretty much exactly like winning the NFC south in the NFL last year. It's almost painful to watch.

Once he plays the best the west has to offer, things change.

Kobe who? Kobe isn't even on the Larry/Magic level.
