Default 2015-2016 Boston Celtics official thread!!!

Hey everyone. About two weeks until the draft. The celtics have four total picks? What do you see them doing? I would like to see them move up and target Cauley-Stein as a rim protector/finisher. They lack and type of rim protection and this hurt them a lot last season.

I am content with them staying at sixteen and then maybe trading some later picks for stuff. If they move up at all i would like to see them move up to about the 10 spot and take Stanley Johnson. I am a big fan of him and Kelly Oubre and think they really need a good small forward. I felt like we had lots of good point guards/shooting guards, and decent bigs but i didnt feel like other then jae crowder we had a real small forward. I think there are enough rim protectors that we can target in free agency/trade that we dont need one in the draft. Thoughts on that?

I'm not sure who they would target as rim protectors? DeAndre would cost a ton. Who else are you thinking?

Doubt Cauley Stein would be available for the Celtics at 16, would likely have to try packaging your picks and trading into the 7-10 range.

That's what I meant, I was unclear.

Trade up or out.

I agree with them trading up. WCS is the guy I want for them. I don't know what they could get for their picks. The really need an interior guy who can protect the rim.

1. Tiago Splitter
2. Lance Stephenson
3. Ty Lawson
4. David Lee

Those are 4 guys I see that are possible trade candidates that would make sense in Boston. Splitter is on a team that needs to shed cap space so they can make a play for LA. He is good in PnR, plays good defense, and sets solid screens. This is a guy that you can get for 8mil/year for the next two years, and it would not take much, maybe a 2nd rounder.

Stephenson had an abysmal year. He struggled to find his shot, and his defense was not up to par. I expect this was because of the team he was on, there was no consistency all year. Would be a cheap 9mil/year for someone who could be a great #3 option isn't bad.

Ty Lawson. One of the most underrated Guards in the league. 12.5mil/year for 2 years is a steal for a player of his caliber. Great passer, shoots the 3 at a high %, and can attack at any time. Hit or miss on D. But his 15/8 is only behind Paul and Wall.

David Lee. Sucks at D, but is a guy who creates instant offense off the bench. If you are going to compete in the East you need to have a bench that can put up points, that is how you beat a team like Cleveland.

Celtics will be cursed for what they did to K. Love. No championship for the next 15 years.

Just what we need is some Cavs fans coming in and trolling a Boston Celtics team thread.

I don't like the getting Lee at all. This team needs to get some defensive focused players. Lawson also doesn't play that good of defense but brings a lot on offense. Lawson and Thomas on the same time would cause a ton of defensive problems. Moving Thomas for Lawson would be the only way I think they do it. Splitter is a solid big, but I'm not sure if he is worth that money. Stephenson is someone who intrigues me. He has just one year remaining, so if he doesn't work out its not the end of the world. Stephenson can defend multiple positions with is a positive.

I agree that Lee sucks on D. But that is why I would only bring him in as a rotation bench player. He can produce a lot of offense in a quick amount of time. I think him and IT would give second units fits. Lawson is a liability on defense, but I think that may have more to do with him having to focus so much on offense, if put in the right system he can stick with a man and at least ball deny effectively.

Lee and Thomas would a good start for a second unit. I believe he is in the last year of his contract next season. If the celtics can't land a star like Cousins maybe they try that route. Lawson just seems lazy on defense at times to me. Maybe it was the coaches allowing it. His lack of size is also an issue.

Stephenson is a guy I think they could target. I feel like they just need a rim protector the most.

Celtics think Smart is the future at PG, so I doubt Lawson gets here.

Splitter is expensive isnt he? Hurt a lot too
No thanks on Lance

And David Lee doesnt really have a future here, just a 1 year guy
