Seeing there is only 60 or so games left in the season who do you think will win the NL MVP. My bias is towards Grienke since I am a Dodger fan but I think a hitter takes it this year.

I think it's going to be Harper, no doubt.

Personally I feel that the MVP is by and large a hitter's award, with exceptions made for jawdropping seasons like Kershaw's 2014. Harper edges Goldy in numbers and plays for a contending team, so I'm going with him.

Pitchers only win when there are no deserving hitters. The NL has multiple deserving hitters this year so one of them will win it. Assuming Washington makes the playoffs, my money is on Bryce Harper.

Harper and Goldy are the frontrunners, IMO

If the season ended today the Nats don't make the playoffs, so Harper probably doesn't get it. I'd go Greinke if the season ended today, since none of the current NL playoff teams have one offensive player who really stands out over and above his teammates.
But if Nats make the playoffs and Harper stays healthy, I think he's a virtual lock. He's carried this offense for 6 months and had a HISTORIC season for his age - his OPS+ through this point in the season straight up murders any one season that Trout has had so far (206 for Harper vs. 187 for Trout - the highest of his career). |

It's crazy that goldy has been ice cold and is still right there. 2 HR in last 32 games. Needs to get hot again.

harper is losing it tho...the Nats are struggling bad!!! currently on outside looking in....i think if they miss it comes down to him and Rizzo cuz right now the Cubbies are in the playoffs...Harper will probably still win regardless if stays healthy...but if they miss someone else might get a lot closer than they prob should....
and i dont think a pitcher really has a shot this year...even if grienke stays under 2.00....his K numbers are low...his w/l prob wont end up too spectacular...so he wont win... |

For what it's worth, if I remember correctly the voters are mostly grumpy old men and my guess is at least a few will be off put by Harper's personality. That being said, I don't think anyone else is in the same ballpark as him right now, so they would need to have a great August/September to catch him

Harper, and Goldy is a close 2. MVP should not be given to a pitcher unless the pitcher has otherworldly numbers and the top position players are having okay seasons. Seasons like those Goldy and Harper are having are far from okay.

If Bryce can play 50 games and Nats can get at least 2nd wild card.. Just make it in..
It will be hard for him to lose... leading hrs and obp is a crazy stat Long way to go |

I think it is Harper's to lose. If the Nats totally collapse, which could happen, toss up between him and Goldy. Don't slip on Posey though, among NL position players he is 3rd in AVG, 2nd in RBIs, and 3rd in WAR. Quietly having a great season, already more WAR this year than last.
And I think pitchers have their own award for a reason. Also, interesting stat to showcase what kind of hitter Posey is: Goldschmidt - 93 Ks Harper - 85 Ks Posey - 33 Ks I also hope he's in line for a Gold Glove finally, the best pitch framer in the league as well as leading in caught stealing % at 47% while the league average is 28%. Yes, better than Molina.

Bryce is very likely the front runner.

Unless Harper goes on a huge streak again and the Nats make the playoffs I would have to say Posey will win it.

Arenado could win 2/3rds of the Triple Crown and won't get any votes. Not saying he deserves to win but he should at least show up on some top 5-10 lists if he reaches that feat.
