Default Question about 2015 Topps Chrome

I have looked throughout the board for the answer to my simple question and couldn't find it, hopefully you guys can give me a quick answer.

Yes I do know how GOOGLE works but couldn't find anything.

Basic question, refractors used to be labeled as such and it seems like they aren't any more. Prism refractors are easy to tell and color refractors are easy as well but regular refractors is the only way to tell is to look at them and see which ones seem to refract light better?

If that is true seems like some may go unnoticed or some may be referred to as refractors when they aren't. I looked as well and the codes on the back are all the same as well.

Thanks for helping

Yep, only way to tell is by looking.

I think Topps overlooked some things in this set. It would be better if base refractors had the same design as the auto refractors (with the silver borders). They really should have "refractor" written on the back of the card somewhere.

Gotta love the bottom line. Topps CEO "How can we save money on production?" Design staff "Leave Refractor off the back, should save us a couple bucks." Topps CEO "Brilliant!"

I understand when refractors first came out in '93 you do not see the word "refractor" on the card. Nowadays, especially considering the amount of buying and selling that occurs online, it is very frustrating not to see refractor cards labeled as such.

It is frustrating that they don't have refractor on the back. To me this is the best Topps chrome design to date so far

Yes so frustrating. Normally I just put the set together so if one slips by that is a refractor and not the base then so be it.

This time in the three boasters and one hanger I bought I didn't get anything good, but when going through them again to sort them I noticed my Joc Pederson RC was actually the SP variation and I believe it to be a refractor not a base.

I don't go after master sets just base sets, so this card should be traded/sold but the difference between a refractor and a base is significant enough in price for me to need to know the difference before I move it.

Oh well pretty sure it's refractor so that's how I will move it

If I remember correctly, I think all photo variations are refractors- so that should help you in your uncertainty with the Joc!

Is the topps code on the back different? I don't have any to check.

No they are all the same so they even stopped that. I looked at base, refractors, prism refractors, purple, green, sepia, and pink. All the same code. The inserts have different codes that's about it.

Makes me upset because I absolutely love this set this year!

I turned on my phone spotlight and ran it over each card. The rainbow effect makes it pretty clear when you do it that way.

I saw a video with some guy explaining that it is supposed to be a "subtle rainbow".

Yep. When you angle them or put them under a direct bright light the rainbow is hard to miss.

They did the samething in football in 2014. It is hard to tell at first but once you see a few. At first I didn't know which were which. Now I can pick them out real fast.

That happens with a few cards every once in a while but apparently its common with this set.

However the Variation photos typically dont have Refractors

I feel completely the opposite.......this years design for baseball and football is the worst I've ever seen......ugly, unattractive, and really tough to look at. Just like some of my ex girlfriends.
